My reading year started off strong. I had read 3 books in the first 6 or 7 days but then I started to feel slumpy reading wise and mentally as well. I didn't have the energy to pick up a book no matter how short.

Are you currently in a reading or life slump?

May (theladymidnight) I'm currently in a slump. I feel like I've been forcing myself to read lately. All I feel like doing is watching shows 😂

Fortunately I've enjoyed all the books I read so far (5 books...this is a record for me to read this much during the first half of the month). What I do is just read a little each day and watch my favourite shows, hoping that will help me with my slump!

Exactly! Reading right now feels more like a chore than a hobby and I hate it. I want to want to read. I don't know if I'm reading the wrong books at the wrong time or if it's just me as a whole.

it can be good at times to take a break from reading to recollect yourself and consume other forms of story. So many stories to consume so little time! ahhh! one tip from a BookTuber I just watched was that for every book you can allow yourself a movie or every chapter or so you read you can allow yourself an episode of a show. I really liked that tip. maybe it could help.

5 books so far is so good! I hope watching tv shows help with your reading slump.

May (theladymidnight) That's a good tip! I think I'll try that. It seems like a good way to motivate a person to read. :)

May (theladymidnight) It's almost the end of the month and I only read two books 😂 I'm starting to read less now compared to the past few months. Haven't made much progress on the Burning God either

How's your reading month going?

I feel ya. I was surprised that when I checked my phone today that it said it was the 19th! this month is flying by.

I've finished three books so far: Kindred, Counting Down With You, and the Ex Talk.

The Poppy War trilogy is hard to get through because the chapters are so long. I prefer short chapters. I only just broke Part II of the Dragon Republic and I'm a few pages into the Night Circus. Before the end of the month I hope to finished those and start Kingdom of Back and Kate in Waiting.

May (theladymidnight) Yeah the long chapters isn't something I'm in the mood for at the moment. I'm so glad the Infinity Courts was fast paced and I was able to get through it quickly!

The Kingdom of Back is an interesting read! It is a little slow though

How'd you like The Infinity Courts?

I've only read the first paragraph of Kingdom of Back but I really like the opening sentence! I also started Kate in Waiting and without meaning to read half the book. Though if I were to rate it so far it would be a two stars.

May (theladymidnight) I really enjoyed it! Loved the big plot twist at the end!

Glad to hear you're enjoying Kingdom of Back so far 😄

I made a website for Book Buzz! It's currently in the group information section and on private. Since school is out now, I can focus on blogging and reading and not school. By the end of the month I'll unprivate it and link it here too!

I am also going to start doing Google Meets meetings to talk over the book and everything if anyone wants to join. We can even talk about non book related things if anyone wants to and there will be games at the meeting. The first meeting is on July 5th, 2021 to discuss June's BOTM and the time is tentatively 5:30PM-7:30PM (possibly could end early) but I'm going to put a poll up to see what times work better for anyone who wants to join. There will also be reading sprints this month too if anyone wants to join. I'll put up reminders of when I'll do those!
Reading sprints will most likely be on zoom. I'd do the meetings on Zoom as well but for a free account, meetings can only be 40 minutes at a time.

I'm sorry for taking a long time to start doing virtual meetings. Part of me was nervous and still is but trying to break out of my shell.

Lol and its no problem about the delay.

I might join you guys but I'm also nervous about talking to people I don't know in real life 😅

Thank you for joining the website. I totally understand the nervous about talking to people I don't know in real life thing. That's one of the reasons I was so nervous to meet up in the first place but I do hope to get to know you guys!
