The Lunar Chronicles is a great beginner sci-fi and I love those books so much

an absolutely remarkable thing by hank green is an easily accessable book if you're just starting. it's technically adult, but it reads close to ya, and it's very contemporary. the humans by matt haig is a pretty wholesome first contact that also deals with mental health. the seven deaths of evelyn hardcastle by stuart turton is a mystery/thriller with a sci-fi twist, and it's my all time favorite; it's impossible to put it down.

also forgot to suggest the martian! very science heavy, but a man is stranded on mars and is trying to survive until he can be rescued.

The Lunar Chronicles, Aurora Rising and Illuminae are some I’d recommend! :)

I read Aurora Rising this month! One of my favourite reads!!! Definitely recommend it!

Has anyone read Illuminae by any chance?? Is that series just as good???
