Hello everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know I am doing a giveaway for my new book An Unexpected Royal. The giveaway goes through March 1st for 100 eBooks, for anyone who maybe interested.

I classify my book to be a cheesy romance, at least this book is. The next books with be much darker.

Kristin Weaver E-Book will be free from 2/23-2/24 (11:59 PM PST)

After losing the ability to write poetry for a decade due to an ill-fated head trauma, in early 2020 I regained the ability to write. What resulted was an explosion of writing and the completion of my first E-Book.

Unrequited: A Poetic Tale of a Tragically Doomed Romantic Courtship.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R5WHH11

While writing this E-Book, I used the form, function and flow of poetry, to tell a singular story over the course of 47 poems.

It is a story of how misunderstandings and misfortune, led to a mutually unrequited love.

I’m writing a book right now. It’s not on Amazon or anything cuz I’m not that close to finishing it, but….

Summary:
5 girls (Fuoco, Wolke, Noire, Fiora, and Soliel) must go through training to become deadly assassins, in a world full of crime, hate, and male-domination. Set in the galaxy of Maisha, on the planet of Finir, which houses the largest number of working male assassins. And only male. All working under the secret government of the king, the top 5 assassins in the planet must kill the horrid Cassian Mrak, a master assassin who has been killing through no known drive, except just to kill. But being hired to kill the most known assassin, as women, will be a death mission. Because women assassins can be put to death. And there’s no bigger way to get a target than by killing the target.

What I have so far: (it’s short)

I didn’t think I’d be a killer. I didn’t think I’d need to kill. And I certainly didn’t want to kill. But, life would kill me either way.
So, I had no choice.

“Ahh!” I screamed angrily, before slashing my sword through the pillows bags of grain I used to train. “Get. Out. Of. My. Head!” I screamed again, slashing bags with each yell that ripped out of my throat. My head flooded with anxiety of things I had done, things I was still doing. The killing. I hated it. Even so, it didn’t matter to anyone what I was like, as long as I could kill. That is, except for my mother and brother.
My sword almost slashed into another bag, but was instead met with the clink of another sword. My wrist twisted skillfully, as I turned swiftly around and swept their legs out. Panting, I laid down. “Ow,” My brother, Izar, whined from near my side.
“Why’d you do that? I could have been mom.” He said, slowly sitting up. “Lua would have been smarter than to point a sword out at a master assassin.” I said, grabbing his hand and helping him up. His blonde hair was messy and wet. “Mom says she needs help with breakfast,” he grumbled, before walking towards our house.
I glanced over to my horse, Phillip. “I’ll feed you later, Phin.” I called out to him, before jogging back towards my house. Stepping into the main room, I found my mother, Lua, and Izar were setting the food out on the table. Lua’s silky white hair was cascading down her back, like it always was. She never liked to wear it up. “It trapped bad spirits,” she’d say.
“Wolke, what are you doing?” Lua said, turning to face me. She looked over me; she could tell I’d been training, if Izar hadn’t already told her. She didn’t like my “job” but since it was the only way to support our family, she had learned to put her distress aside and focus on the bigger picture. “Nothing. Just thinking.” She looked at me suspiciously, before sitting down at the table.
“Wolke?” Lua asked.
I shook my head, staring at my food, and not really paying attention.
“Cassian- he escaped.”
My breath sucked in. The most dangerous assassin- on the loose. Out in Maisha,
like any other being. Sure, the kings and soldiers would be looking for him, but with their divided anarchy and lesser-trained soldiers, they didn’t stand much chance against a master assassin.
It felt as though my brain had blown up, and every sense of being able to think reasonable, ran out the door; just like I did. I quickly got out of my chair and sprinted out of the house, hearing my mother yell my name, the wind chimes clink as my hair flew behind me and my legs moved as fast as they could. Where I was running, I didn’t know. I didn’t care. Just getting away.
I ended up at a small house outside of the city walls, where my best friend lived. Marino Jastor had been an orphan ever since his parents had died 10 years ago, killed when he was no younger than 7, and murdered by none other than Cassian Mrak. He’d burned his house, with only Jastor escaping and hiding before Cassian could find him alive-
“Wolke! What are you doing here?” A familiar voice cutting through my thoughts.
“Oh. I just wanted to come by. See how you’re doing.” I said, staring at my feet. I had never loved talking to people, and always felt nervous talking to others, but I’d felt a different kind of anxiety being around him the last many months. It was like my stomach was made of butterflies and my head was full of clouds. Beautiful, bright clouds… like my name.
“Thanks. I’m doing fine.” He said, though I could tell something was off.
I looked up. His hair was even messier than usual and his eyes looked very red and patchy.
“Jas, you’re not fine.” I said, walking up to him. I touched his cheek and he flinched. His face was wet with tears. My heart sunk and hot fury rushed through me.Why’d this have to happen to him? He was the kindest person I knew, and his life had been ruined by a ruthless murderer.
“It’s ok, Wolke. I mean, there’s nothing we can do about it, anyway.” He said, gloomily. His eyes were blank, and his stomach sounded like a lion growling.
“Come on, Jas. We’re gonna kick this right out of you with some chocolate chip cookies.” Since we had first met, Jas and I would always make chocolate chip cookies. Every time we met, and especially when one of us was sad. Most of the time, it was him making them for me, so it felt good to return the favor every once in a while. I walked with him inside, and we started baking.
We’d had the ingredients memorized by heart, and we quickly gathered them all and began putting all of it into a bowl. Jastor was busy mixing eggs in a bowl and I couldn’t help but look at him. His curly dirty blonde hair fell off his head in short ringlets, glowing in the light coming through the window. It was perfect. Too perfect.
Before he could look up, I grabbed some flower and threw it at his hair.
“What was that for?” He said, dramatically wiping it out of his hair.
“I just felt like ruining your perfect hair.” I smirked mischievously, before throwing another handful at his hair.
“Oh it’s on, cloudy!” He yelled, picking up flour and running after me.
I ran around the kitchen, living room, and into his bedroom, where I proceeded to trip on the rug, and felt my head hit the hard floor. Jas looked me dead in the eye before smirking, ready to throw flour at my face, before everything blacked out.

When I woke up I couldn’t see anything but the blue sky, and a few blurry white shapes. I looked around, but my vision wasn’t doing well. I tried to get up, but something held me down. I soon realized that it was someone’s arm.
“Wolke, oh my clouds, are you okay?” I looked up to the right to see Jas looking panicked. His eyes were huge and he still looked like he’d been crying. Except, more so. I really hoped he hadn’t been crying over me. That was never what I would want.
“I’m okay. What happened? I just tripped, and then, everything went black,” I said, starting to ramble. I continued to look at Jas, before his eyes went to my head and his pupils widened more. I carefully dragged my hand up to my scalp. There was a bump. A large bump. I started feeling more nauseous, and I was scared I was going to pass out again. My eyes got foggy, and my vision blurred slightly.
“Hey, it’s okay, Cloudy. You’re on Phin. We’re riding home. We should be there soon, okay? Just keep looking at me. Look at me. Stay awake. You can do it.”
It was super hard to stay awake, but looking at his eyes made it a little easier. They were such a bright green and then an even brighter gold on the inside. My vision started to clear, but very slowly. I slowly felt myself drifting back to sleep, before-
“Hey, Cloudy. You awake?” Jas whispered, leaning over to see my face.
I slowly yawned and blinked before saying,“Yes, I’m awake. Where are we?” I asked, slowly trying to sit up, but failing. I almost fell on Phin, but thankfully Jas helped move Phin and kept me steady.
“We’re back at your house. Do you want to get down? I can go get a stool or a chair,” He said.
“It’s okay, Jas. I can get down.” That was partly true. I got halfway done getting off Phin before my head started pounding and the world started spinning. I could hear the muffled voice of Jas behind me. The world seemed to go dark again, but I soon realized it was more of a dark brown color.
“Hey. Cloudy! Wolke!” Jas said, trying to be quiet. Thankfully, the world stopped spinning after a few minutes and Jas helped carry me the rest of the way off of Phin, and into the house.
He laid me down on my bed, which was in the living room, since our house wasn’t very big. Immediately, I sank into the mattress and he told me to try and stay awake until my mom came back.
Soon after, I heard Jas yelling for Lua and Izar to come out, since they were in the back.
I didn’t hear anything after that, until my mom’s footsteps, soon followed by my brother’s.
“Lua, she fell. She hit her head and there’s a bump. She passed out and-“
“Never mind that right now, we’ve got bigger things going on,” I heard my mom snap, before continuing. “The king- he sent a letter.”

Chapter 2-

“He-he what?” I said, completely startled. I was terrified. My head had started spinning again and I felt even worse than I had when I first woke up. My lungs felt completely devoid of air, and I went to cough into my arm, but all that came up was fresh blood. “Blood.” I said weakly, my voice breaking as I stared at the floor.
“My goodness! Wolke! Did you really hit your head that hard,” Izar said, running over to my side, and being followed by Jas.
“Apparently,” I said, glaring at him, through my blurred vision.
This wasn’t the first time I’d hit my head bad. After being an assassin for 10 years I had gotten some pretty bad concussions and broken bones, but then again I was only eighteen so my bones would heal quicker. Yet, never quick enough, for someone who was always on the run. I had already stayed with Lua and Izar for 3 days, so I would have to continue moving tomorrow or the day after. They were always pretty sad when I left, preparing a big meal before I left, and making a large batch of chocolate chip cookies for when I got tired of eating rice.
I would say goodbye to Phin, Lua, Izar, and then Jas. I knew it was hard on them to see me leave, and even harder to know there was the possibility that I never would come back. But I tried not to think about that. Just like the many things I’d block out of my mind, especially how much I’d miss them.
Izar’s voice slowly droned back into my ears, talking about how concussions could seriously effect me.
I rolled my eyes, and said, “Yeah, they could effect me. But I’m tough as nails. Huh, Jas?” I said, smiling. He weakly smiled back before saying, “Yes, but you have still suffered a concussion…” He said, lightly.
“Yes, but I get concussions all the time when I’m out saving you people from bad guys,” I said, before my mom cut in. “ you don’t have to. Save us, I mean. You could just get a job at the market. That would still bring in money.”
“Or Izar could get a job,” I said casually passing my gaze from Lua to Izar. He glared back daggers at me, which certainly was not helping my already pounding head. Lua cleared her throat, before tossing her hair over her back and walking to where I was sitting.
“Anyway, the king. He sent a letter,” I groaned and fell back onto my bed. That was a seriously bad idea. My head started spinning again, and it felt like I was just going to fall off the earth. Which, honestly, didn’t seem too horrible. Just leave this life behind. I already did that as much as I could, daydreaming about other places and the other lives I could have. I didn’t want to live the life I had, but I certainly didn’t want to end it.
Lua just glared at me, her lips a thin line and her eyes like knives, as they always looked. Never kindly, just sharp and predatory.
“As I was saying, the king wrote,” She said, before handing me the letter.

A Soul of the Sea by sutton_writes
title; a soul of the sea
genre; action/adventure
status; ongoing ( just started )
chapters; prolouge - chapter one

blurb; A soul of the sea, who must escape the deep.

Espen Nightingale grew up knowing she had one job, and that was to become the Captain of the Royal Guard. There were no if's, and's, or but's. At the age of six, the young girl was shipped off to Finishing School in Hufsend. There was no way out of becoming the perfect daughter her parents wanted her to be. Now at the age of eighteen, she is being dubbed the Captain of the Royal Guard at a gala, but what she soon finds out is the powers that she has been hiding from the royal family will not bite back. A prophecy was announced at the gala,

𝘈 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱
𝘈 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘢 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱

What Espen didn't know was that talking with the Queen about her powers and being the "Soul of the Sea", she was going to be turned into a weapon, and a deadly one at that.

Will Espen and the rest of the Souls be able to make it out alive?
