Perry Lake | 335 comments In the darkness, the Lord of the Undead lurks, waiting to strike. His red eyes smolder in the shadows for he knows soon the sun will sink and he will be unleashed....

Will you be ready?

Graeme Rodaughan Awesome. I read the first one - looking forward to this.

Perry Lake | 335 comments Graeme wrote: "Awesome. I read the first one - looking forward to this."

When I say "revamped", I mean it. The series title is the same, some of the stories are the same, but much will be brand new.

Perry Lake | 335 comments Dracula drops in two days!

Forget wimpy, apologetic vampires, afraid to draw blood. THE LEGEND OF DRACULA makes vampires scary again!

Perry Lake | 335 comments To gain immortality, Vlad Dracula made a deal with the forces of Darkness. They promised him reanimation—but delivered enslavement to the wizard who revived him. How will he break free?

Find out tomorrow, when DRACULA: HIS FIRST CENTURIES drops!

Perry Lake | 335 comments For centuries, the name of Dracula has inspired men with terror… and inspired women with lust. He is evil, he is seductive. He is corruption incarnate and allure personified.

To gain immortality, Vlad Dracula made a deal with the forces of Darkness. They promised him reanimation—but delivered enslavement to the wizard who revived him. How will he break free?

Once free, Dracula enters a world already populated with legions of ancient and powerful night-stalkers. Imagine how these undead lords and ladies will accept him, a new upstart, a rival to their centuries-old claims. How will they respond?

They'll tear him to shreds!

Or die trying.

Perry Lake | 335 comments In 2014, Double Dragon Publishing released my original “Legend of Dracula” series. I had some good stories in that trilogy, but somehow I came up with the idea of grouping the stories according to theme. Basically: Dracula fighting other vampires, Dracula and his brides, and everything left over. Well, that sucked. It forced readers to have all three books in hand, jumping from one to the next to follow what was going on.

I resolved to correct that. The current series puts those stories in chronological order (there are one or two exceptions, but only because it's clever). But that's not all. The stories have undergone extensive corrections, re-editing, and expansion where needed. Also, I have added an entire book's worth of BRAND-NEW stories. I can safely say this will be a much better reading experience.

Perry Lake | 335 comments Here's the cover for DRACULA: HIS FIRST CENTURIES. It might look a bit dark on your screen, but I think it works very well when backlit on a Kindle and I think the cover looks great on a paperback. Most important, it's very dramatic.

[image error]Dracula I cover-small-2"/>

The scene shows the legendary Dr. Faust, at the behest of the beautiful vampire goddess, reanimating Vlad Dracula. OK, OK, this is not literally what happens in the book. The actual scene takes place indoors, but I decided on this cover as it's symbolic of the events. And, you know, Dracula's like busting outta the ground, man! It rocks!

The artwork was commissioned through Hephaestus Entertainment, based on my sketches. Let me know what you think.

Perry Lake | 335 comments Drac is back! And this time, he brought the ladies!

JUST UNLEASHED! The second volume of the Legend of Dracula series—DRACULA: HIS WOMEN!

Twenty, count 'em, twenty stories about the Lord of the Undead and the women who love him. As Dracula strives to carve out a Kingdom of the Night, he first seduces then corrupts a gaggle of gals—each more interesting than the last!

See them all: Addhema, who finds she can not feed on blood. Katya, who let her love for a peasant turn her from Dracula. Elizabeth Báthory, who bathed in the blood of virgins... and created a new kind of monster. Clarimonda, who made herself the courtesan to the most powerful man in France. All these and more! Plus the novella-length origin of Mircalla Karnstein—the title character of Sheridan LeFanu's classic tale of horror, “Carmilla”.

No woman can resist Dracula—and some will love him forever!

Perry Lake | 335 comments Graeme wrote: "There's a great energy in your covers, Perry."

Thanks, Graeme. Having worked on about 60 comics, I know how a good cover will grab the reader's attention and hopefully inform them what's on the inside.
Because no matter how much you describe some things in text, there's nothing like a picture to bring the characters to life.

Perry Lake | 335 comments My Legend of Dracula series is now available on Kindle Vella, in serial form! Not sure if scary tales about the Lord of the Undead are your cup of tea? Now you can check them out, one chapter at a time, for mere pennies.

Currently, I don't have a link, but I'll post one as soon as I get it.

BTW, I'm reminded of “Varney the Vampire” which was also serialized in newspapers. Gosh, haven't we come a long way?

Graeme Rodaughan Awesome work, Perry.

Perry Lake | 335 comments Graeme wrote: "Awesome work, Perry."

Thanks, Graeme. I'm especially proud of my retelling of "Varney the Vampire" -- in which I cut it down by over 600,000 words.

Also I really like the trilogy of Cagliostro stories, where the sorcerer makes a deal with Dracula, as they plot to take over the French court. But will it all go awry when Dracula sets his sights on Cagliostro's beautiful wife?

And what's up with that necklace?

Perry Lake | 335 comments BANNED!

Amazon has refused to accept advertising for my first and second LEGEND OF DRACULA books! Amazon claims the covers display “overly sexualized content”. The first book shows Lilith in a bikini, just standing there. The second book shows a vampire woman in 16th Century attire. So cleavage is banned these days?? At least the cover of my third book is acceptable—it only shows swords and fangs and claws designed to rend flesh!

Perry Lake | 335 comments The queen of evil, the queen of blood. She appears throughout folklore and mythology, all across the world. She dwells in darkness, yet she allures men to her abode. She despises motherhood and feeds on children, yet she is the mother of monsters. Along with the goddess of the home, the Mother Goddess, the goddess of love, and several other benign, nurturing female deities, we frequently see this darksome, malignant figure. And we can't take our eyes off of her.

Mater Tenenabrum, Our Lady of Darkness, is her shadowed form in the Church of Rome. In India she is the murderous Kali or Mara. As Mara or Mora, she also appears in the tales of the early Germans and Slavs as the queen of nightmares. The Aztecs called her Huixtocihuatl and happily provided her with human sacrifices so she would not hunt among them. She is Hecate, the witch-goddess of Ancient Greece, that friend and companion of Night who rejoices in the baying of dogs and the spilling of blood, attended by her hell-hounds, Gorgo and Mormo.

And she is Lilith in Hebrew mythology or Lilitru, her oldest name, in Babylonian sources. There she is described less flatteringly, as a night owl, a huntress of men, women, but especially small children. She is the queen of the succubi. She is feared more than any demon, save Satan himself.

But to Vlad Dracula, she would be known as Strigoica. Witch-queen. Queen of all vampires.

And he's had enough of her.

In Book IV of the LEGEND OF DRACULA series, Dracula vows to rid himself of the yoke of Strigoica once and for all!

Or die trying.

Who will win? Find out in the pages of THE LEGEND OF DRACULA, Book IV: INTO THE MOUTH OF DEATH!

Perry Lake | 335 comments My book, DRACULA HIS FIRST CENTURIES The Legend of Dracula, Book I by Perry Lake just got a great review on Taliesin Meets the Vampires, the premiere vampire review site on the Internet. Check it out here: http://taliesinttlg.blogspot.com/2022...

6.5 out of a possible 10 isn't bad, considering that Andy Boylan is one tough reviewer!

Perry Lake | 335 comments The best vampire review site on the Net just reviewed my second Dracula book, DRACULA: HIS WOMEN. Sadly, because of the GoodReads restraint-of-trade policy, I'm not allowed to post a link here. But if you search for www. http://taliesinttlg.blogspot.com/ you will find it as today's featured article.
Andy Boylan is a tough reviewer, so getting this score from him is a real boon.

Perry Lake | 335 comments It's WORLD DRACULA DAY! Yes, this is the 125th anniversary of the publication of Bram Stoker's immortal novel, DRACULA—and the first World Dracula Day! All over the world, there will be tours, lectures, movie screenings, and parties.

And what better way to celebrate than checking out my series which begins with the infamous life of Vlad the Impaler and leads up to the pages of Stoker's novel? Unlike some recent pastiches, my books respect and remain faithful to the original work.
