I'll leave the poll for this up until the 1st of February, let me know when you want to start :)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments Cyn wrote: "uhm depends. Shivon what do you think?"

I am really eager to read it. But its not much fun to read alone. So, I think we should all come to an agreement and then start. If we can make a space in March, then we should do that.

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
Yes, I'd love to buddy read this. Due to lockdown, I have quite a lot of time on my hands, so I am fine with whatever date you can agree on.

Raya, if you can't do February, would the start of March suit you?

From Heaven With Love (aplacecalledbookland) | 9 comments Yess I'm so excited to read this, I have heard amazing things and yes, because of lock down I hv free time... Even though February is buissy

Anyways, going on to the point, I am free in march and we can start whenever (in march XD)

Yeah sure, I am so excited to read this as well and it's a pretty long wait but I would LOVE to be able to read this with ya'll.

So if everyone is good with it, I'd say to start at March, 1st then?

From Heaven With Love (aplacecalledbookland) | 9 comments Sounds good to me ☺️

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
also, quick question. I have done buddy reads in which we just read and discuss as we go, and I did buddy reads where we agreed to read up to a certain chapter each week.

what do ya'll feel like? I don't mind either way :)

message 11: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments Keeping a weekly schedule is a good idea. :D

book has 30ish chapters, since we agreed on weekly meetings, shall we say around chapter 10 for next Sunday?

message 16: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments I can do that.

message 17: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod

What do you guys think so far?

For me, it's just now getting interesting. I kind of have mixed feelings so far.

From Heaven With Love (aplacecalledbookland) | 9 comments I. Am. So. Blind.

I just saw that the title was Ready Player Two!! Ahhhhh I really cant seeeee. Guys I have to quick because I'm reading Ready Player One and I don't want to get spoiled sorryyyy

message 21: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
no worries. and even if discuss spoilers, we'll do with tags!

From Heaven With Love (aplacecalledbookland) | 9 comments Tell me at the end if the book was worth it :))

message 23: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments The beginning was a bit uninteresting for me. I guess I was drifting off. But then Chapter 9 happened and boom! I'm pulled back in.

exactly! I was kind of bored through the beginning and chapter 9 really pulled me back in! I am so curious to what will happen next.

I only hope that it won't be a 'replica' of book 1. But we shall see :D

I do really like the turn they take on technology and how it advances. reminds me of how these days tech gets more and more improved.

like where is the line before it grows superior to humanity and such. So, I wonder what turn the book will take with this as well.

message 27: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments Yes. There were many instances which in the story which made me think 'we are not that far away from this futuristic plot'. Scary!

Shivon wrote: "Yes. There were many instances which in the story which made me think 'we are not that far away from this futuristic plot'. Scary!"

Exactly!

From Heaven With Love (aplacecalledbookland) | 9 comments me just reading the 1st 10 chapters of book 1 make me want to hide from all of reality because I know that technology will improve so much and it won't be fiction anymore...it might as well be real.

message 30: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
exactly! and it makes me wonder how this story will advance and the turn it will take. Like Shivon said, in some instances, we are not that far away and it kind of shows the scary side of it

From Heaven With Love (aplacecalledbookland) | 9 comments Yep, I agree!! Maybe it's even the fact that I am Christian and the facts being there too telling me every day that Christ is near. You guys might not believe in any religion, but I think that we should all agree that the world is changing every day. Even by small bits at a time.

What chapter are you on?

message 33: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments I wasn't able to read much this week. Got a new project on my hands. So had to handle with that. I am on chapter 15.

message 34: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
ooo yeah fair, I'm around 19.

it's getting pretty interesting! Do you have an idea what the Siren's Soul might be?

message 35: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments Ohh I do. And young Mr. RDJ?! wow!.

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
I am SO curious to what if you're guess is right. I read a little and oh my, it's getting interesting!

And I know right? Young RDJ, I did not expect that but I would have loved to meet.

The oasis in general sounds like a cool place to visit, I would never strap an ONI to my head though.

But can you imagine just being able to go to Middle Earth, Hogwarts and all the other fictional places?

message 37: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments Oh that would be epic. I completed the book. And then ending? My my! Did not see that coming.

message 38: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
i am almost at the ending right, I can't wait to discuss all of this.

also the lord of the rings geek in me is screaming in joy about the fact he included Morgoth in the book rather than Sauron, hahaha.

message 39: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
okay, I finished. And I certainly don't get all the 2 star ratings for this book? that ending was amazing, and I honestly didn't see it coming. (view spoiler)

for me, after the first 8 chapters, it was such a rollercoaster

message 40: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments Yes. This books is so good, I hope they dont go and make it a movie to ruin it. Oh, how much I want someone to create The Oasis. It would be a huge hit. Of course it should be protected from the evil AI.

message 41: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
Yes! I mean, I don't think a second movie is happening. the movie for the first one was okay but nothing like the book.

I would LOVE to have the oasis. I would go literally everywhere, Middle Earth (this is no surprise by this point), I'd love to meet the celebs that aren't alive anymore, Narnia, Hogwarts. you name it.

The AI's can go though. I've never been a fan of bots, AI and whatnot and I love how this book emphasized the 'evil' side of it. especially, at the rate we are going at, I wouldn't be surprised if there is gonna be something like an ONI (to a lesser extend than in the story) will eventually find it's way into our world. And I wouldn't know how I would feel about that.

But the Oasis is really cool and I love that the author actually did his research on all the facts mentioned - at least the ones I know about, which were accurate

we'll fight the AI off, let's make it happen lol

message 43: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments Even if the world ends, humans live on. What if we came on Earth that way and we have no physical proof of God is because... !! What if the first gen could not understand or replicate the tech and hence we lost the ancestors... ! My mind is roaming around in possibilities.

message 44: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
exactly! we'd be starting a whole new legacy if that happens. Or we'd go down the rabbit hole trying to re-create it, there are so many possibilities in this context alone, and it baffles me.

it's a scary thought to have an entire replica of yourself digitalized somewhere in space, with a mind of its own.

(view spoiler)

message 45: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments I think it would be awkward as well as exciting. Like.. I would get to see my own behavior, emotions etc. That would also make me understand why people love/hate me. Oh possibilities,,!! If a digitized me gets a gf, would I be jealous? or would I be hopeful that I can get gf? So many questions finally answered.

message 46: by Cyn (new)

Cyn (lostinstoryville) | 36 comments Mod
exactly! it's awkward, exciting but also a little terrifying? As in, what if the digitalized version of you has a better life than real life you?

A part of me is wishing for a novella to have this explored.

it's been so much fun reading this and thank you a lot for wanting to read it with me :)

message 47: by Shivon (new)

Shivon Shajeev (shivonshaji) | 15 comments It was fun indeed!. You're very welcome.
