Alina | 58 comments When the twins, Alex and Connor, dad dies, they know that things are going to be different this year. After the incident, Alex and Connor have moved to a small rental home near their school, so it naturally surprises them that their old house has been sold. They tell their mom and grandma who say it was going to happen eventually and they shouldn’t be thinking about that because it’s their birthday. Weeks later, Connor notices Alex is acting strange rather than her normal book worm self. When Connor asks Alex what’s troubling her, she doesn’t tell him and goes home, only to have Connor follow her and try to stop her from going though the Land of Stories book that their grandma gave them which glows. Alex and Connor fall into the book and find out that they are in the Land of Stories book which is really a portal to another dimension in which every story in the book is real. After they meet Froggy, they find out from a journal that Froggy gives them that the only way home is the Wishing Spell and as they collect the items needed for the spell, they’re not alone in the hunt. Across the kingdoms, panic is spread that the Evil Queen has escaped the Northern Kingdom jail and is on the run. Her mirror says “… the Wishing Spell can only happen twice. And the spell can only happen once more, for it was already used once before.” The Evil Queen herself doesn’t go for the items needed for her plan but the Huntsman’s daughter will, for not everyone lives happy ever after in this story.

I like this book because it brings a twist on the fairy tales that most people have grown up with. It brings new light to some characters by telling their stories. The book also brings new kingdoms into play, from enslavement to white foam. As the twins race to find the way home, the reader will be racing to finish this book too. I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars .
