I had some trouble with Fable, but it's hard to explain. I felt like there were passages, both descriptive and conversational, where I was expected to know what they were talking about but I had no clue. And as I looked back for clues, I couldn't find any. So, I guess I could sum that up by saying both my teen and adult self were confused. The first half was very slow. It had a promising story but I don't think it delivered. Maybe the second book will start strong and fill in gaps, but i don't care enough about the characters to read the second book. I'm betting this is not a popular opinion; I'll be interested to hear what others say. Best thing about it was the cover, which is gorgeous. 2 of 5
I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this book. However, I felt it started off strong and sort of fell off at the end. I will keep an eye out for the next installment if only to see what happens. 3 out of five.
I listened to this book, so I'm not sure if that had any effect on my thoughts, but I feel like this book kinda rambled on. I'd had some hopes for it when it first started off because I do want a really good kick-butt pirate book and haven't found one yet. Then, it fell off and I started to lose interest. I guess I expected more swashbuckling. 3/5

Kristin Q.
What annoyed me most about this book is the fact it was all backstory leading up to the real story which took place in book 2. Yes, I read book 2 because I wanted to know what happened, but I was not a fan of this book. 2/5
