What did you think of the sarcasm in this book? Did it add to the effect?

I think that the sarcasm added an indifferent tone which added to the effect of the book. It was almost like "Hey this is normal" while saying something so appalling making it more obvious that it has become part of normal society. I think this is highlighted by the line, “ . . . Lincoln . . .said what no president had ever said before him--that Blacks (the intelligent ones) should have the right to vote. No wonder three days later he was shot in the back of the head” (Reynolds and Kendi 105). This line stuck with me throughout the entire book.
