I'm wondering if there's a word for this genre: meditative books focused on excellence. The Great Passage comes to mind as another example. (Maybe someone else can think of more.)

Not sure if there's a word, but as it happens I'm just reading The Great Passage right now, and am really enjoying it. So would be interested if others suggest more along these lines :)
