Hunger Games Trilogy discussion

Hi, everyone. I am searching for some novel which features a game in which one competitor is applying methods of hunting a beast (a tiger, maybe). He plans everything and is very passionate. It could be like uncle franklin's character in the novel "Lasting". Is there any story like that? I haven't read a lot of fiction, but I want to start it by any such novel. If anyone can tell me the name of any such novel?
