Lauren Bailey, 31 and single, is waiting to adopt a child from China, and so resisting all attempts by her sister to date any men because you either apply at age 30 being single OR as a married couple, etc. Joshua, an tech head, starts substitute teaching across the hall from her classroom. I started reading this for both a challenge requiring a book featuring adoption and a GR group read--if it wasn't for the latter I might not have found this gem of a book.
Yes, I know, when I put it that way, those of you who know my reading tastes may be surprised at this being 4 stars and not 3, but this book is more than the sum of its parts and I found myself looking forward to reading this and reading far too long at a time or when I normally wouldn't be reading. Deese writes well, I loved the people, the problems Lauren had with her family were very real and not sugar coated, etc. I plan to read more by Deese.
And, yes, this is Christian, so not up everyone's alley.
And it was already shelved family drama as well as similar shelves...
