Characterize Eva’s relationship with Dex. Why does she feel betrayed when she learns the truth about him? Why do you think Eva decided to leave behind Berkeley instead of testifying against Dex?

Eva trusted Dex. She thought he was trying to help her... and also trying to protect her from the violence generated by the drug dealer. She had no idea that Dex and the drug dealer were the same person. Since the violence seemed to come from hired hit men, Eva has no idea who else is involved in this dark world of drugs and violence. Best for her to escape and not look back! Even if Dex were convicted, his associates would still be out there. You can't live being fearful and ashamed your whole life.
