What do you think of Bilbo Baggins? do you like/dislike him?
What do you think he is supposed to represent?

Elizabeth Faustina (ourladysthimble) | 97 comments I feel like Bilbo is very relatable to humans, for example, I find his struggle with wanting to go and wanting to stay relatable to how part of us humans want to follow God, because as humans that's how we can be happy, but then worldly things hold us back and we want to stay. Sometimes, throughout our journey we'll say, "How I wish I were back home!" and have doubts, it's not easy to follow God's path, but it's the right thing to do. I think that the dwarfs represent our friends who keep us going, and they still make mistakes of their own. Gandalf is like our Guardian Angel, who helps us out of hard situations, and when he doesn't help us, it's usually because we will learn or become stronger from the difficult situation.

Oh yes, very true! I really like how Bilbo begins his journey with sleeping in! He couldn't even begin right, but he did end up going, and do the things he was meant to do despite the bad begining. Beginings are important but they don't have to determine how everything else will turn out.
