I think that when in the very begining when they all say what they hope to find when they explore the outdoors it mirrors their characters a bit.
Peter hopes to find eagles, stags, and hawks. (Leaders and magnificant. King Peter the magnificant you know)
Susan wants to find Rabbits (common and lacking depth)
Edmund wants to find foxes (cunning and greedy, but also and what I find very interesting isthat Edmund actually does meet a fox (view spoiler) I think it is neat foreshadowing.
Lucy wants to find Badgers. Now in Prince Caspian the badger is faithful, uncomplicated, and trusting. Rather like Lucy is it not?
