Discuss the Silver Chair here. What did you think of it? What did you like/dislike about it? Who did you like best? What do you think were main themes in the book?

Leah This was one of my favorite books in the series!
I think some of the main themes were of forgiveness because Jill Eustace were constantly being rubbed the wrong way with each other and had to admit that they were wrong and needed forgiveness.
Oh and
fun fact
Lewis based the witch off of the Lamia, a mythical creature that took the shape of a snake and a beautiful woman who would lure her victims into the woods.

Elizabeth Faustina (ourladysthimble) | 97 comments That’s a very good point! They definitely made mistakes throughout the entire book. If I were in Narnia I’d probably mess up just as much.
Oh, I never knew that!

Yes I see what you mean, knowing you have made mistakes and saying so.
I did not know that.

S.T. Jones | 3 comments This is my favorite in the series! I liked the whole journey aspect of this one and the giants part was the most interesting to me! I wasn’t a fan of Eustace at first but he grew on me! I loved Jill but Puddleglum was absolutely my favorite character in this! The white witch was interesting! The main themes were to stay strong in the midst of trials thrown at you, IMO.

This one is my mother's favourite! For myself, I've never liked it as much as the others because I find it rather gloomy, and to be honest, most of the time Puddleglum!
Yes that is true and it certainly has amazing themes, I just never enjoyed it that much.

Elizabeth Faustina (ourladysthimble) | 97 comments I love this book too! I never really cared for Jill, even at the end of the series, but I like Eustace. My favorite part has to be when they're down below and the witch is trying to brainwash them.

Also, she isn't the White Witch. She is a descendant of the White Witch and is called the Lady of the Green Kirtle.

S.T. Jones | 3 comments Thank you! I always wondered about that with the White witch! Yes, the brainwashing part was interesting too!

Brian Louis | 3 comments The Silver Chair I think is the most like a classic fairytale.

Or maybe most like the concept of a medieval story.

The Owls, both of the children, and Puddleglum all make the story a pure delight. And to you think that Puddleglum was the most optimistic of his people! Perfect.
