3/5 The stream-of-consciousness writing style and yes, rambling of the main character throughout was not to my taste. At the end, the main character says some profound things, which I did not anticipate. This book may appeal to some teens, but I feel many would not appreciate the author's writing style and may tire of keeping up with the side characters along the way. That said, The Black Flamingo is a journey, the journey of a character learning who they are and who they are not. The ending was the best part, and I did enjoy the audiobook performance. If I add this to my library holdings, I will purchase the audiobook format because it added so greatly to the story.
