Hi all. We're ready to start nominating for our next read which will carry us through Lent. The category of read that is up is Catholic Classics. What constitutes a Catholic Classic? let's say anything that was published before 100 years from today, so before 1921. This used to be the inexpensive read, but most works published before 1921 are probably going to be inexpensive if they're still in publication. So last time in the cycle we changed the category to simply classics. Here at Catholic Thought we want to build our knowledge of the past while still reading the current. Let's take this week to nominate a classic.

While we nominate, vote, and take time to acquire don't forget there is a short read just started. We're reading and discussing Acts of the Apostles. From the New Testament, of course.

Celia - I don't think that's a classic. The category is for something written before 1921. Looks like an interesting book. In the future we should open a category for devotional books. It's not so easy for a devotional type book to get selected.

Celia - I don..."

Thank you Manny. It did not register that the selection was to be a classic. It should have and I appreciate you pointing it out.

Mark Baker | 33 comments I would like to nominate The Innocence of Father Brown by G. K. Chesterton. The Father Brown stories are something of a Catholic response to Sherlock Holmes. Dealing, as they do, with the nature of sin, they are not inappropriate for Lent, despite there being essentially popular detective stories.

Manny, your suggestion is hard to top, lol! I am debating if I should enter another title or not.

Yikes, I forgot to put up the poll yesterday. I guess there are only two nominations. I'll put it up.
