4.5/5This was a fun book to listen to. Several pieces of different stories added to one book! Gang wars, Romeo and Juliet, Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde, etc. Crazy but so good! I think teens will love this.
Slightly slow start but I loved this one! I loved the parallels between other iconic stories and the idea of Shanghai in the 1920's. This would make a GREAT movie! 4/5
2/5This book should have been good. The setting was interesting, the incarnations of Romeo and Juliet were powerful; but, there was something missing. I was so bored through the first few hours of the Audiobook, that I did not know for certain that I would be able to finish. However, I did manage to slog through; I owe that to the teen boy who rides to school with me telling me that it wasn't too bad. The Audiobook was well performed, there were just too many words, to quote some of my students. It picked up a bit at the end, which is what gave it a two, and not a one; yet, it was lacking. My teen self would have taken it back to the library early, and she never did that sort of thing.
