I really enjoyed this book. I was very intrigued by the ending and now can't wait until the third book comes out! :) I guess that's what makes a good series though. Closure for the book, but some suspense to keep the reader interested. I gave both books in this series 5 stars and keep trying to push my sister to read it, but she keeps saying no because there aren't any vampires. She will cave though. She loves books, how could she resist?

Misty | 1505 comments Is there any way we can pull over the comments from the other thread for this?

~~*Julie Kawalec-pearson (jewel77) I absolutely love this booka nd cannot wait for the next one that comes out! I try to get everyone to read it. She is one of my new favorite authors. Her other books are not as indepth but all are very good, quick and easy reads!

Clytan | 12 comments Loved the book. Thats all I will say here. But there is no closure, it ends a bit abruptly and on a cliffhanger the size of Mt. Everest! Fans of the first book will love it.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments Loved, loved, loved it! Did I mention how much I loved this book? I was afraid it wouldn't live up to The Hunger Games, but it definitely did.

Midnight (dreamofdreams) | 15 comments This book was not what I expected, but I loved what the author gave us. I really think the President only fueled the flames of the rebellion by what he did, and the last few lines of the book really floored me - I didn't see that coming at all. I can wait, and I'll try to do it patiently - for the next book only because I have to. I would love to be able to read an ARC copy of the next book, just so I can read it earlier.

Bhumi | 274 comments I don't have this book yet, and I really want to read it. It's going to be amazing, I just know it.

Karla (bookarita) | 11 comments *SPOILERS* I really enjoyed this book and am in utter horror they don't have Petta at the end OMG!! I have to know where he is and if he is ok, and I have to wait for a year!*moan and grone* So mad I have to wait. But I loved the rising up against the capitol lead by none other than the game master, whoo hoo! This had so much heart ponding action that it's impossable to pry my hands from it plus I love strong willed flawed characters that don't just put everone in danger to benifit themselfs!! I'm in utter awe of Collins. How YA get all the most compelling books these days is so wounderful!

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) I seriously read this book in a day it was so good. This book was just so gripping. Though i must say the cliffhanger at the end has me dieing for the next book. I'm not sure if i can't wait around until next year for it!

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments I LOVED this book. I honestly had no idea where Suzanne Collins would take the story line, but WOW, I REALLY wasn't expecting what happened!

Holy cow... The utter RAGE I felt at Snow!!! (I'm still feeling it, let's be honest...) Oooooh.... I could kill him with my bare hands!!!!!! (Ha! I almost typed "bear hands"... which I'd love to kill him with, too!)

The last chapter... the last two pages... the last line... ooooh! SO AWESOME! I mean, WOW... The end of this book is going to go in the dictionary as the definition of "cliffhanger", but it was fan-freaking-tastic! Suzanne Collins can WRITE.

Has anyone read her Gregor series? It's juvie fiction, right?

This is definitely what we readers call a page turner. Both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire are truly books I couldn't put down. Yes, that cliffhanger is brutal. It's going to be a long year.

Misty | 1505 comments Allison and I were thinking of breaking into her house and forcing her to give us the third, Misery-style. Anyone else in?

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments Where does she live? *googles* Connecticut? That's a BIT out of my way, but if we split the gas... ;) We should probably find out if the third book is even WRITTEN yet before we leave, though...

Karla (bookarita) | 11 comments LMAO!!! That's what ya get writting a cliff hanger that good....LOL

Gwen (socdownload) This was a GREAT sequel. I wasn't sure where Suzanne Collins would go with this book and then as I began reading I worried that it would be repetitive of the first book. I'm glad I was wrong! She really took some twists and turns that kept you guessing along the way. And the ending??!!!

I do have to say that one of my students read her Gregor the Overlander series and really enjoyed it until the end. He thought she bombed out on the last book and hoped she didn't do that with this series. I hope her next book is just as strong as the others.

Bhumi | 274 comments I'm more than halfway through Catching Fire, and I'm extremely impressed. What a great read!

Heather (heatherjoy) I think I may be the only person on the planet who was disappointed by this installment. I LOVED Hunger Games, but this book, well, I didn't feel like Katniss learned very much from the first book despite the fact that a year has passed. And the games weren't nearly as nail biting as they were in Hunger Games. And I was kind of annoyed, make that very annoyed that Collins felt the need to injure Peeta 10 minutes into the games. It's as though she was trying to make Katnis a hero by making Peeta weak. I do love Collins writing though and I am very interested in seeing what happens next.

Team Peeta all the way!

Lisarenea I love the intensity of this book! Both Catching Fire and Hunger Games were exciting page turners with strong characters - my two favorite things! I am anxiously waiting for the next installment. That said...
**SPOILER**

I was not as convinced by the Gale or Peeta question in this book. I felt that the reader was being told that Katnis was conflicted in her feelings, but I didn't see a continued development of her relationship with Gale. I'm willing to hear about my being wrong from any "Team Gale" people out there - but for me, the love "triangle" felt forced in this one.

Misty | 1505 comments I'm not being nitpicky, I just thought I'd let you know: there's a separate thread for spoiler discussions, Lisa. Then you don't have to worry. :)

Lisarenea Thanks Misty. :)

Diana Passy (dianapassy) I loved this book! When I read Hunger Games I didn't even know it was a part of a trilogy. I was kinda afraid that the second book wouldn't be as good as the first one but I loved this one even more. Can't wait for the third book :)

(am I the only one scared about the Hunger Games being made into a movie? i mean, i can't wait to watch it and to have the books become more popular because of it, but i'm afraid they'll tone it down...)

message 27: by Sara ♥ (new) - added it

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments IT'S GOING TO BE A MOVIE????? Oye..... oye oye oye....

Heather (heatherjoy) I agree that the whole love triangle bit felt forced. I saw evidence of Gale's love for Katniss, but not so much evidence that Katniss felt any more than friendship toward Gale. It seemed as though Katniss "loved" him because she felt that she should.

Bhumi | 274 comments So I finished Catching Fire and I must say, I loved it. Go Team Peeta!

Michele (kaoden39) | 31 comments I loved it. I hated that it was such a cliff hanger.

*SPOILER*

I think that the reason that Peeta was not in the end was because what better tool for the President to use against Katniss in the next novel?

Michele (kaoden39) | 31 comments Isn't that a true sign of how much you like a novel.

Misty | 1505 comments *ahem*
BOOK DEPOSITORY HAS PREORDER PAPERBACK OF MOCKINGJAY FOR LIKE $5!!!
and it's free shipping, and it comes out like 3 weeks before the HC.
Just saying...

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments 8.44??? GEEZ Amazon! How DO you do it?? Now what should I buy with it to get free shipping....

message 35: by Misty (last edited May 28, 2010 07:54AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Misty | 1505 comments No, no NO!
Book Depository. $5.24. FREE SHIPPING, period. No "free shipping when you spend..." crap.
It wins!
(Or, if you're a hard cover kinda gal, its 13. It was 9, but you missed it. And again, free shipping

And you have to spend $25 to get free shipping from Amazon here. Big country, I guess, plus they know we'll do it)

Misty | 1505 comments Yes it does. Which is why I almost always use Better World Books or Book Depository. In fact, I have a $5 giftcard for Amazon that I've had for months and haven't used because I look at everything and think, I could get it cheaper at _______.

Every time I've preordered from BD, they've shipped it sooner than the release date. A lot sooner.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments I've got movies I NEED to buy though... things I've been waiting to buy...

Misty | 1505 comments Okay, I guess I'll allow that...

^_^

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments Oooh... and I just placed my order, and it's going to send me my 2 movies and 1 CD NOW and Mockingjay LATER all with free shipping! ;) YAY!

I'm so excited! I LOVED August Rush, and I'm getting the soundtrack, too...

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) This was my favourite book in the trilogy. I thought the Quarterly Arena was amazing, and had a great time trying to figure out it's pattern along with Katniss. I breezed through this book really fast, as once I started, I had trouble putting it down.
