My main genres that I like to read are fantasy and science fiction, but in recent years, I have branched out to historical fiction and nonfiction, as well as science nonfiction. Long story short: I am a major bookworm!
I highly recommend anything by the author Brandon Sanderson. He has many different fantasy series to choose from, set in a fictional universe called the Cosmere. Point being, there are many points of entry you can take! Personally, I particularly enjoyed the "Mistborn" and "Stormlight Archive" series. More recently, I have come to love his in-progress YA series "Skyward" (set in another, newer universe, instead of the Cosmere).
Happy Reading!

I don't really have a favorite genre, but something interesting about my reading habits is that I usually have 3 books going at once; a juicy literary book that I read in the morning before work, an audio book, and a graphic novel for reading at bedtime! Yay, books! :-)
Two quick confessions: I sometimes "read" atlases for fun. And I've never read a word of Harry Potter.
I don't read to escape into different world. I read to understand and learn about the current one, which right now is just as wild and compelling as anything in the fantasy genre.
I mostly read nonfiction, including current events, memoirs, and sociological, historical and journalistic offerings. So, school.
But I also stay up-to-date on contemporary fiction authors and new fiction trends.
My only recommendation is to occasionally read outside your comfort zone. I certainly will.
As an atypical Goodreads member, I'm looking forward to this experience.
