Kim and her team struggle to find a connection between her two murder victims, Deanna Brightman and Maxine Wakeman. It became more of a puzzler when they discovered 7-year old Tommy Howard’s murder from nine months before was connected to their case. Were you as baffled or did you develop any theories? What were the clues you found useful? What red herrings led you astray?

I was totally lost concerning the connection between the victims. I didn't put it together before Kim figured it out. I actually thought that Geraldine Hall's mother was behind the accident that happened to Geraldine's partner, Belinda.

It wasn't a very obvious connection and only the complete background on each murder victim and their family would have uncovered it. As the reader only had the information when it was brought forward by the team it wasn't likely we would come to that conclusion before then.

I gave up trying to figure it out, especially with those flashbacks to 2007. I just waited for Kim and team to do their procedurals and let them lead.

I didn't have a clue. Honestly, for most of the story, I worried about Kim and everything happening in her personal life more than the crime.

The idea that the victims had to be connected was really emphasized in the story and nothing beyond a direct connection was considered for a long time in the story, so it never occurred to me to think about an indirect connection. I suppose that was the point of the emphasis.
