I heard a lot about this book before starting it that kind of made me a little hesitant. However, I have really been liking it so far. Lore seems like a really interesting character. I like how she changed her mind about the previous traditions she used to follow because she realized how messed up they were. I also kind of feel like she may not have reached that conclusion if her parents and siblings were not killed. Do you guys feel like she would have continued the hunt if they were still alive?

I also really liked Castor's character. I like that he didn't want a child bride (which to be honest is the bare minimum, but ya know) and that he wanted to change how things are. I am so interested in finding out how he was able to defeat the old Apollo and why he doesn't have all of Apollo's powers. Do you guys have any theories about how he defeated him and why he has less power?

Also please tell me I'm not the only one that was happy when Philip died.

part one

(view spoiler)[ I've been slow to understand all of the characters and bloodline but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. My knowledge of Greek mythology is sparse which probably doesn't help! haha I found the cast of characters section at the back of the book which has been a huge help.

I think Lore is a very interesting character. Her over the top aggression and impulsiveness makes her fun to follow around. From what we've seen so far I think you have a good point about her not changing her mind if her family was still alive. I've never been one to drink the kool-aid under any circumstance but Lore definitely was gung ho about pursuing the hunter lifestyle. Life expectancy couldn't possibly be good amongst the various families considering how much fighting and murders go on.

The mystery of Castor and Apollo is very alluring, though right now I'm more trying to figure out how the author is going to gel all of the characters together (Lore, her roommate, Athena and Castor) once Lore and Castor make it back to the brownstone.

The various elements of the plot are still a little difficult for me to piece together but I think as the story progresses the author will hone in on a stronger overarching theme.

Also, I was very glad Philip died, as well. I wasn't looking forward to have to put up with him throughout the rest of the story haha (hide spoiler)]

Girl, me too. I'm from Texas so I've been dealing with all of the crazy power outage/water /severe weather the past couple of weeks. I've never been so happy to have un-seasonably hot weather haha

Parts 2-5:

I liked pretty much everything about this book. I thought Lore's character development was really interesting because she went from a person in hiding to a person who wanted to end the whole thing to a goddess to a regular person. She was not a perfect character, which made me like her more.

Castor.... what a guy. I liked him from the beginning, but I also fully expected him to turn into the bad guy. I am really glad he was consistent throughout the entire story. In terms of his powers, I had a feeling that Apollo had somehow given them willingly to save him.
Although I had not been betrayed by Castor, I feel fully betrayed by

Athena. She literally murdered Lore's family (which she seemed really proud of) and then at the end she does a good thing. I would have been so pissed if someone deceived me in such a way for so long, but in the story it just made sense with her character. Literally everyone told Lore that Athena was good at strategy and that she would inevitably betray her, and boy oh boy were they right. I think Athena made for such a good villain character because she had done so many bad things throughout her life, but she chose to do something good at the end.

Some things I liked:
- The ending: I love that they asked the gods to take away their power. I also love that Castor and Lore ended up together (mainly because I love Castor).
- The presence of her family: I thought it was so cute that in death they were there to cheer Lore on
- Wrath's death: enough said

- The action

I can't imagine how crazy that all must of been. I keep hearing about all of the crazy weather everywhere else and it sounds so scary.
