I loved this book!! The fact that you know (in a way) what the ending is going to be like, as it serves as a prequel story for the notorious Queen of Hearts from Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, makes any happy moment painful. This is the type of story that rips you apart and leaves you ruined and yet you're still greatful for the journey. It provides the Queen of Hearts with a backstory which makes her a three-dimentional character, with an understanding of how she became the way that she is. (It is definitely a more interesting take on her backstory than Tim Burton's movie - sorry not sorry.) I should warn that it is difficult to read due to the knowing of the way it ends which makes almost every moment painfully heartbreaking but it is definitely a worthy journey.
