Elisabeth aka Elsie(Taylor's version) | 26 comments Hmm most of the time when I buy a book, I’ll first research it, find what it’s about etc... but sometimes when I’m in a bookstore, when I see a beautiful cover, it immediately catches my eyes and it’s hard for me to resist to buy it.

madi (madi_taylor) I think book covers have more sway over me than I care to admit haha but since I've been buying my books online mostly nowadays, I find that shipping costs have the most influence now 😅

Brooke W (thereadersgame) | 18 comments No- but if I think I might not like the book(I buy books that I am certain I will love and I am mostly accurate) I think: "Even if I don't like the book at least my shelf looks pretty!"

D (_daphne_) For me a book cover definitely plays a role in whether or not I'm going to buy it like I know a lot of people try not to judge just based on the cover but our eyes are just naturally attracted to certain colors. Like for instance the book A Curse So Dark and Lonely has such a shimmery spine and cover, that you just can't help feeling drawn to it ( or at least I was aha). But of course it's always good to also check the description.

Cassie I like to say I don't judge a book by its cover, but I can't deny a pretty cover will catch my eye in a store. :)

Anushka (bookish_swiftie) | 51 comments I definitely judge a book by its cover. A lot of times, I don't buy the book just because I don't like the cover XD

I once went to a "Lock-the-Box" fair, which is basically book-lover heaven :) There, you can buy an empty box for a certain price (the bigger the box, the higher the price), and then you can fill the whole box with as many books as you can fit! How much ever the cost of the books may be, you just need to pay what the box costs. So, in that fair, I mostly bought all those books whose covers I found beautiful. Yes, I did that. I used a great opportunity to buy books solely based on covers. Now that I look back, it seems stupid, but that's what I do :D

B For me the cover doesn’t matter. I very rarely purchase copies of books, I mostly borrow, read e-books or audiobooks and hence the cover doesn’t affect my decision. But I understand how beautiful covers can be visually appealing.

Hannah:) When I'm buying a physical book (paperback/hardcover), I'm terribly guilty for judging books by their covers (sorry but trueee)... but when it's ebooks I honestly don't care
