What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read the juvenile/ya fiction book when i was in elementary or middle school. It was about a boy who sensed things differently, and could see colors or tasted colors or something. I think things had auras or something. I really want to reread it as an adult to see if it is as good as i remember.
