History: She was one of the first toys that Henry invented for his daughter Charlie. After he committed suicide, Charlie left Hurricane with her Aunt Jen and all his toys, including Ella, stayed at her father's house. Ella first appears in Chapter 1. After ten years, Charlie returns to Hurricane to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Michael Brooks and the first thing she does is visit the old house of his father. There she finds Ella along with her other toys, which had remained in her closet for all those years. Later, Charlie left the house because she did not feel comfortable being there. She reappears later when Charlie and John return to the house, but it is never taken out of there.
The Twisted Ones
A year after the events of the first book, Charlie enrolled in St. George's School, specifically in the area of robotics. Just before classes begin, Charlie went to her father's house (which was damaged by a heavy storm). In that house, Ella was still in her closet and had not worn out a bit. The Charlie said that she thought to take the doll and Stanley with her but finally decided to take Theodore[1]. Later, she appeared again when Charlie returned for the second time, this time accompanied by John. The Fourth Closet
Ella is seen in Chapter 4, while Clay's team beforehand was scavenging leftover parts of Charlie's childhood home after it collapsed due to the events of The Twisted Ones. John was talking to Clay about the doll in Clay’s office located in his home. John, already knowing that the Charlie she was with was an impostor, was interested in why she didn’t want the doll.
Later, to confirm John's suspicions on the illusion discs, we went to Clay's house and finds a way inside. As John enters, he rummages around his office to find any clues, he finds Ella and flicks a switch. Revealing a toddler who took her place. He then takes Ella with him. In Chapter 9, he shows Ella primarily to the real Charlie and turned the disc on, revealing the three-year-old child again. Charlie has no clue what she has and or any idea about her looking like that. She’s mentioned in Chapter 11, as the real Charlie and John were opening boxes for more clues in Aunt Jen's house, they found an envelope and opened it, revealing a letter. In relation to Ella, he talked about the fourth closets, to keep the fourth one shut, since he felt amounts of grief realizing what he’s done. Then, Charlie finds a lock-box, opening it revealing a bunch of papers of drawings of Ella that Henry drew. With the measurements they found that differentiates with Ella in other papers, they think there was another Ella in the works. Later, as Baby is slowly telling Charlie the truth, it's revealed in a memory that Ella has the ability to walk, as talked about by Henry to Jen. That her memories were her father's and her memories after that were fabricated by him. It was then revealed that there are four dolls that were designed to match Charlie's height to give the illusion that she is growing up (she was murdered instead of Sammy by William Afton). The baby version of Charlotte was Ella, then there was the kid version, then the teenage version, which was the current Charlotte, which Elizabeth mentions is strange. The one housed in the fourth closet was Baby who was the unfinished version of Charlotte as a woman, now possessed by Elizabeth.
