What are some of your favorite reads that can be considered a classic?

One of my favorite classics is Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth Bennett is a fierce and intelligent heroine who fights against the constraints of her time, wanting autonomy that was largely out of reach for women. No one is going to force her into a marriage that she doesn't want!

She's one of my favorite characters in literature. I enjoyed her growth as a character in this story and that despite all the societal forces pushing against her, she finds a meaningful relationship with another person in defiance of these constraints.

A Tale of Two Cities is a wonderful classic with easily one of the most recognizable opening sentences ever. I would definitely read more Dickens.

And in honor of the approach of Halloween, I must say I enjoyed Bram Stoker's Dracula. The writing style is unique and the settings, from London to Budapest to the Carpathian mountains of Transylvania and on board a ship, add intrigue.
