Siege and Storm comes in as the second book in the GrishaVerse series where the reader continues to follow the protagonist, Alina, on her quest to stop the Darkling. In this book, the world that was built in Shadow and Bone was greatly expanded upon which is something I personally really enjoyed. The world that was created in the first book was beautifully done, but compared to how far the characters go and discover on and off the continent in Siege and Storm makes the first book pale in comparison. An issue I had with the first book was that some of the main characters felt under-develped but in this story the reader witnesses the main characters and even new side characters get more detailed and invested in the plot. The author, Leigh Bardugo, did a much better job growing her characters in this story. I found Siege and Storm much more enjoyable compared to Shadow and Bone simply because everything felt deeper. The plot had its dry spots in the middle when building up to the battle at the end but overall left me feeling fulfilled at the end of the book. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who was read the first book because the plot and characters only get better.
