Jayne | 5 comments I put off reading 11/21/63 by Stephen King, because it was a large book and I was on the fence about him (even though "The Stand" was one of my favorites). I LOVED 11/21/63 and highly recommend it. A guy can travel back in time and is trying to stop JFK from being assassinated. He is such a great story teller. He has over 30 books that are not in the horror genre.

Emily | 21 comments I listened to A Man Called Ove, and I loved it. I was at a library conference years ago, and in a session about book recommendations, the librarian talking about Ove (where I learned it was pronounced Oo-va), actually squealed about it, so I gave it a go. It was my first Backman, and I loved it. Definitely recommend. It’s quite different from Beartown, the only other book I’ve read by the author.

I was a bookseller for many years, and it was easy to become cynical (not saying it was right to be so) about the huge bestsellers. Some of them, like Gone Girl, have been spoiled (someone told me the ending) for me, and I’ll never read them, but one that I remember loving once I finally got to it was The Help. The audio version is fantastic, and at least one of the actresses from the movie adaptation is a reader.
