Wings of Fire - The Last Hope discussion

The young dragonet waited, having sent an invite with directions to the princess of the sky kingdom. It was a formal invite, but it also included a secret message asking that she helped him out because rumors were starting to circulate about how he's socially inept and that he was never going to find a mate. He basically just needed her to show up so people believed that he had friends and that if he wanted and tried, he was capable of being social and possibly finding a mate in the future. He had no intention of playing fake mates with anyone, as it would be nothing but uncomfortable for him, so he just needed her to pretend they were friends or something. He wasn't sure if she was actually going to show though.

He did the same in response. The young prince was a bit younger than her, but, he figured that it'd make the biggest impact if she was the one he was seen with. "Thank you for coming." He finally said. The young Nightwing had the teardrop scales at the corner of their eyes, indicating that he was a mind reader. "It's a pleasure to see you." He said, despite having never met her prior. He was just hoping that she read the hidden message on the scroll he sent her, what with pretending to be semi-friends or acquainted. Seeing as they didn't exactly go to school together, as she was older, he figured she'd be his best bet. Despite being an adult, she was also still a princess, so she was kind of the best choice. No one would assume they were mates because of the difference in age and her being the queen's candidate. He seemed pretty calm and collected, despite being known as a prince that was inept at socializing. He also made sure to remain his respect, as she was still the future queen. He figured while he can't take the throne, it'd still be beneficial for both of them if the two knew each other as well. She would be allowed into their kingdom to see it and he'd be able to disperse rumors.
He smiled a bit, glad she had understood. "Would you like to go somewhere more private?" He asked her, glancing toward the onlookers. People who served the palace. It seemed as though that simple exchange was enough. Maybe not to completely disperse the rumors, but enough to start a rumor that the two were friends, which, would later cause speculation about the other rumors about him. For now, they just needed to chill for an hour or two. "I bet it's a bit unsettling with this many people watching us," he added to clear up any misunderstanding that may spring up. He didn't want the wrong rumors to start. Though, everyone knew he didn't exactly like to be around the palace servants, as their eyes made him uncomfortable, hence why he was usually by himself.
He nodded and led her to his den. It had almost nothing inside except a small rug, probably where he slept. He let out a sigh and plopped onto the ground. "Thanks for doing this for me." He said, clearly already exhausted. Being around palace servants drained him, mainly because they were always looking at him. It made him extremely uncomfortable. "Do you have anything particular you want to see, do, or talk about while you're here?" He asked her, looking toward her. Other than the performance earlier given, the male didn't seem all that mature for the most part. He still spoke to her in a respectful manner though. "Oh yeah. Even if you don't have a letter or prior notice giving you permission to enter the kingdom and palace," he said, going through a small hole where he kept his things. He pulled out some necklace type thing with some strange symbol on it. He held it out to her, it hanging loosely from his talons. "This will allow you entrance anytime you want. A thank you gift if you want to call it that." He said.

"I don't particularly mind. It's not like I'm not used to it anyways." The male said, curling up on the large rug. "Sorry about that by the way. If I'm being honest though, I didn't expect you to actually come. I thought you may decline. Then again, I guess I can't really say much since I don't really know you." He said. He seemed pretty indifferent about it, making it quite clear he was used to such curt and rude behavior and that he didn't mind it at all.
"If your willing to, then please." He said, offering a small, awkward smile. It seemed unnatural and a bit forced. It was clear that he didn't typically smile all that much. Then again, the rumors about him being a socially inept prince was rather true, as he never really interacted much outside of the servants and family. Even then, he kept to himself and usually spent time at either school, the library, or his room. Some believe he's secluded like that because he's socially inept and not capable of social interactions, others believe he's keeping secrets. Both aren't really right. Sure, he's not the best or most social dragon, but it's more or so because he chose to be that way. He didn't favor being approached by people who would only use him for his status or be expected to have some kind of mate or anything. And well, he was keeping secrets, such as how he actually felt about the opposite sex, which well, was part of his reason for not really going around and socializing with others, but not the entire reason. "What.. do friends do?" He asked her, tilting his head slightly. "I don't really have any, so I'm not entirely sure how to act. I know they act casually with each other, but would that even be alright? You're older and about to be queen soon, so I can't really see myself being casual and impolite." He muttered, mainly to himself though.
"If you don't mind my impertinence then, may I call you Bores?" He asked carefully. "You may also call me Nightheart or Heart if you wish." He added soon after. It would be more believable that they were friends if they dropped the pretenses of royalty. The male seemed very careful with his words, almost as if a slip of the tongue could result in something grave. He was used to speaking this way, to avoid needless rumors or misunderstandings. He did not wish to be on anyone's bad side, as it did not benefit him in any sense or form. It helped that he believed in respecting one's elders. While she was not much older in age than he was, she was still older.
The male heard the other and jumped. He looked toward them and let out a small growl. "Who are you? And what are you doing in my room? I don't believe I have given anyone but Her Majesty permission to enter my room today." He said, glaring at the person who had entered. His room was his private space, so he didn't even let servants enter it. An exception was only allowed for guests, which he typically doesn't have. That and his personal guards.
Moonshadow bursted into the corridor. "What's going on!?" he growled, baring his teeth at Thunderclap before realizing he was a Nightwing. "Oh"
"Her Majesty cares for her dragonets." Moonshadow said as he stepped between Thunderclap and Nightheart, he placed his tail instinctively protectively in front of Nightheart, his tail tip touching the smaller Nightwing's shoulder calmingly.
"No." Moonshadow said, he bared his fangs at the Nightwing and growled "Leave the palace. Now!" his hiss full of hostility.
The male seemed to be a tad less tense, now that Moonshadow was here. His tail wrapped around the other's, showing that he now felt a bit safer. He did it without really thinking, something that was likely instinctively. The male growled in response to hearing the other. He did not wait for the princess to respond. "Excuse you. Not only were you not invited, but you seem to show no respect for Her Majesty. You make it sound as if Her Majesty goes around getting mates willy nilly. I have to ask you to mind your manners, and well, leave. You are not permitted to be in my quarters. What you are doing is not only trespassing, but you are being both blatantly disrespectful to both me and her highness, as well as my guard here who has asked you to leave." The male growled clearly not pleased with how he spoke with the princess and how he entered his den. Despite having not known the princess for very long, he respected her, as one should. She was older, and well, soon to be a queen. Respect was a given and, from what he's seen so far, deserved. Despite his earlier calm manner, he seemed easily riled up. Though, he kept his wits about him and made sure to stay calm. "Therefore, I do not believe you have a right to ask for our names, nor do you have a right to act as if we are friends. You do not act friendly with someone after breaking into their home and making yourself comfortable, only to ask their names and to play once they return, do you?" he said sternly. The male had always been rather stiff, and well, if he were to react friendly in a situation like this, it would only undermine his authority as a prince, which was already being questioned and threatened by rumors.
"No common dragon has the right to call a princess, queen, king, or prince just by their name." Moonshadow took a step forward towards Thunderclap.

He nodded in agreement with both. "Nor do you have the right to accuse her of 'wasting no time to find a new mate.' Prospective or not, 'wasting no time' implies that she has recently left a relationship with another and was entering a new one." The young dragonet growled. "It's disrespectful to utter such words in front of a lady, especially a dragoness of her standing," he said.

The male sighed as he glanced toward Bores. "Sorry for having you experience something so distasteful during your visit. I'll make sure that security is tightened around the palace for the next time you come to visit. The prisoner, do you wish to bring them back with you to the skywing kingdom? It seems as though this occurrence was a personal one, so I'll allow the punishment and fate of the prisoner to be of your decision despite his transgressions being on nightwing soil." he said, going back to formalities. He seemed to have completely forgotten his earlier question and concern about the names thing, having gotten sidetracked with the sudden appearance of a new dragon. His tail wrapped closely around his front talons, no longer intertwined with the guard's as they left. Despite the male being as secluded as he was, it was quite clear that he was still a dragonet and one that got frightened easily at that. As a result, it was no surprise that he relied on others to feel secure and safe, as he did with his guard once they arrived.

Moonshadow returned to the prince's room.
