Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) | 48 comments There are a lot of Ballard books on the 1001 list, more than I would have expected, and including several novels the seem like really odd choices. His novel Empire of the Sun was turned into a really good film of the same name, and his novel High-Rise was made into a movie a few years ago, with Tom Hiddleston playing the lead role (including a nude sunbathing scene that might make the movie worth watching even if the story was not one of my favorite Ballard stories).
I like to cluster my reading a bit, aiming to 'check off' whole authors once I finish reading all their books (on the 1001 list or just in general, which is admittedly much harder). So I actually finished all of Ballard's books on the combined 1001 list over this past year or so, and I think I have 5 of his novels left to read overall. My favorites so far- Vermillion Sands, Concrete Island, The Crystal World, Empire of the Sun. My least favorites- Crash, The Atrocity Exhibition.
Who else has been reading Ballard?

I've read all but one of his list books. Like you, my least favorites were Crash and The Atrocity Exhibition (I hated both). I liked Empire of the Sun the most (glad I started with that one). I just finished Super-Cannes, which I also liked.
