Do we set a page limit or a chapter limit ?

would you all mind if we start tomorrow? i just have to finish up the book in reading right now.

i definitely think we should do chapter limits , because people might have different editions

yeah. chapter limits might be best, i don’t have my copy with me right now but 1-4 chapters a day (depending on how long they are), sounds perfect.

This book got really short chapters, so I think we need to set percentage of completion or page limit

how fast do you all read? maybe we can try to read 20% of the book each day, or something of the sort.

I can do that, but it would be like twenty chapters per day

i would rather not do page limits, as i have the Book Of The Month subscription edition and i dont want to have to stop in the middle of a chapter or accidentally spoil stuff because our pages don’t align.

chapter limit would be best, and we can roughly estimate how many chapters equals 20% (or however much we decide to read.)

It's fine with me. We would be reading 80+ pages everyday and I am excited to start it. It's been in the shelf for too long 😅

starting tomorrow, how do you all feel about reading to part two? in my copy that’s about 90 pages, and it seems like a perfect stopping point for our buddy read!

I'm on chapter 15 and the story is haunting me in a way I didn't know it was possible

i’m 30 pages in, and this writing is just so so gorgeous

Yeah, it's like reading a poetry, especially the parts sets in France in the late 16th century. The reason she makes the deal feel justified even though it's really harsh.

Part 1 This book is really good (view spoiler)[ Normally I'm not a fan of present - past transitions for every two chapters, but it works really well for this story. Addie's emotions when her parents were preparing her for the wedding was painful to read. It was sad to read the chapter's where her own parents and friend couldn't recognise her and the complete helplessness she felt was moving.

I don't know how I would feel if I were in her shoes. Sure I'll have more time to read books and do a lot of other stuff, but it would hurt me a lot if I can't make anyone remember me for that long. She's pretty much a Ghost so far in this book, no one having a clue about her, other than Henry, who kinda seemed to remember her. I really loved that last sentence in Chapter 15, when Addie realises Ideas are far more wilder than memories. (hide spoiler)] Can't wait for the next part

I read this book like a week ago and istg it's the best book I've ever read

I'm just on Part II and it already feels refreshing to read a book well written that it lets me immerse myself entirely into the story

Part II (view spoiler)[ The story is slowly taking shape. For a while I had this question, Why is Addie so adamant on not saying "enough, take my soul" to Luc ( Darkness ) for centuries but the last few chapters shined a light on the "why" part of that and I'm here for it. The war's only beginning and he really underestimated Addie.

I liked that Henry is written as a guy who has his own set of curse which makes the plot even more better, since he's the only person who can remember her. I was elated when she told her name to Henry and nothing could match the feeling I had when Henry said "I remember you" to Addie. Even though I wish it hadn't happened so soon in the story ( sucker for slow burn romance lol ) (hide spoiler)]

Slowly, this book is turning into something special for me. Hopefully it gets better with more chapters.

And yesterday was Addie's birthday 💚

I didn't join the buddy read.( I didn't know there was one until know) Im listening to the Audiobook and I just wanted to say that it is beautiful and almost like a piece of art. I predict to rate it 4 stars.
