I thought I'd use this to post my thoughts until I finish.

I think I've figured out that Catherine is Marie Rawls and Claire is her daughter.

I can't remember from the first book...what did Claire's grandfather do to get on the wrong side of Tony?

Either. I just don't remember.

Claire's grandfather was responsible for Tony's grandfather going to prison...I think he was the FBI agent.

I won't spoil anything for you but will say I had the same thoughts as you but I had to candidates for Marie's daughter.

They held Claire's grandfather responsible for the ruin, imprisonment, & ultimately his death. A path of revenge was set upon early on...it's just a matter of figuring out who all the players are - & what part they had in the events.

Aah! Thanks, Kris. I forgot he was an FBI agent. Now it's coming back to me.
