Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. For example, it's been a hard for me to separate JK Rowling from Harry Potter, since she was kind of an idol for me before.

I think it depends. If the book is a result of the author's behavior. Because then I don't think I would read it since it's like a piece that kinda represents their problematic behavior/opinion. But on the other hand if the book isn't like linked to or a direct result of their actions, I think it's okay then to read it.
