I finished They Knew Mr. Knight, which I thought was wonderful. Her books I find are so full of emotional depth which can make the books feel like a bit of an emotional roller-coaster. This one make me feel so angry at times, at others, frustration, and finally relief. I had sort of forgotten just how much I enjoy her writing. She creates such believable characters and then takes you on a journey with them. I found the afterward really interesting, where the story is compared to that of Faustus, who sells his soul to the devil, (Mr Knight). I hadn't really picked up on that and yet it's so clear once it's pointed out.

Jude Hayland | 6 comments I only discovered her in the past year or so and I love her writing- still more to read, luckily!

Absolutely! I still have a few more novels by her left to read. I don't want to rush through them and run out too early. 😀

Karen | 351 comments Another great read from one of my favourite authors of Persephone's books. Dorothy Whipple really draws you into her stories with her wonderful characters. I would really love to watch the movie now i've read the book.
I don't often reread books but this is one i would.
If you've never read her books then i recommend them all !

me too. I only have a few novels left and I've been trying to eek them out, but I'm planning on reading Young Anne soon, She really is a great writer who just sucks you into her stories.

Excellent, I couldn't get hold of it when we read it as a group.
