I will be reading The Power of Un by Nancy Etchemendy, which received the 2000 Stoker Award in the Work for Young Readers category. The winners were announced May 26th, 2001 at the World Horror Convention in Seattle.

I read The Rust Maidens by Gwendolyn Kiste - which won a 2018 Bram Stoker Award for First Novel (presented in May 2019). It was an interesting book - a bit of a slow burn - about a town where some of the girls have bones that are turning to metal - and the town really doesn't know how to handle this. Plus, they are going through a depression with the mill closing and a lot of job loss. It's a sad book from beginning to end.

The Power of Un

Bram Stoker Award for Young Readers, 2000
This is a very enjoyable middle grades read that blends horror, science fiction and fantasy into the story of a boy who receives a mysterious device that lets him execute an "undo" command on real-life occurrences. Who among us has not wished for THAT at some time or another, right? Well, be careful what you wish for!
I like how the things that happen to Gib Finney in this story make him start thinking about some of the Big Questions in life ... but in a way that is very natural to the story and appropriate to the age of the character and the intended readers.

All the Birds in the Sky won the Nebula award for best novel 2016.
I thought i was well written and has some interesting concepts, but it never truly grabbed me.
