I've been reading lots of art education books to help me start a free open art school.
What are you reading lately?"
I know this thread started a year ago but...
I haven't been reading much about art theory recently, but I am reading "optic nerve" by maría gainza. it's a novel about a life story told through art and artists. how about you?
The last theory book I read on art that I can remember is called "meanings of abstract art" and I think it's a bit harder to catch if you're not a specialist in the matter.

I love both those types of books, the kind that give insight into art through story as well as the more technical academic nonfiction books.
A couple weeks ago, I read Color: A Workshop for Artists and Designers, a color theory and mixing course developed over 12 years at the Rhode Island School of Design.
This past weekend, I took a mandala painting workshop with Paul Chek. The theme of the mandalas we all painted, "MY LIFE", meant that the analysis Paul offered on the second day was like staring into people's souls, like Jungian dream analysis. I don't usually make that kind of representational art, but knowing yourself through an art therapy method like this is super valuable.
Now I'm giving The Artist's Way another go! Gave up half way through it a couple years ago, now it's time to finish it.
I sent you a friend request Constanza, hope you're well.

It sounds interesting —I mean, the fact that you can analyze a person's soul by their drawings. Did you discover anything?
I haven't been reading anything on art lately except for a catalog, but now I want to review color theory again. I'll let you know what I find and how it goes.
Nice, I've accepted your request. Hope you're well too.
