All right All right I will read this one this month. GoodReads never lies and it has been on my currently reading tab wayyyy to long. In fact I saw that I started reading on August 17, 2020... it didn't pull me in. Last year I also read Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clarke which I found enthralling. I think I started Space Odyssey to shortly after that one. Maybe this time it will go better.

I love the Rama series! I hope you get into 2001 this time around.

This was a quick read - and I liked it even more with this re-read. So many layers to explore!

I also enjoyed this. Without Matthew’s recommendation, I probably wouldn’t have read this book, wholly due to my recollections of the movie which I didn’t enjoy (also not a Kubrick fan, generally). It was interesting to read, by Clarke in his 1991 intro in my version, that this book was written in collaboration with Kubrick, but isn’t a novelization of the movie (or vice versa, I suppose).
I really enjoyed the long perspective from primeval human to star child. I will be contemplating this for awhile.

Glad you enjoyed it! The intro was very interesting - lots of good perspective.
