Other groups have a similar topic, although maybe not titles the same. What have you just bought or been given? What might be your next acquisition?

Is no one else acquiring books? One of my goals is to have fewer unread on hand books at the end of the year than at the beginning. I am *very* slowly making progress, but today 2 books showed up in my mailbox:Old City Hall - this will be a new series for me.
Morituri - set in Algiers.
I've noticed the "Old City Hall' series at the library. I'll be interested to hear how you like it.Of course, is the answer..... I am acquiring books. I do feel guilty about it though! I'm hoping that the summer season has a 'owned book task' to help encourage me. I seem to be working on acquiring big fat books lately.
The most recent being: An Instance of the Fingerpost

I was quite excited to get this, it's in like-new condition.
I recently read three books from my bookcase that I will donate. But I also bought and read a couple of chunky books for my Dickens group that I want to keep. They take up more room so I can't win! I'm glad we will have the opportunity for a summer cleanout.
I have been trying to read more of the books I own. However, that also includes Kindle, which does not empty my book shelves at all!
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir has arrived in my mailbox! :) I really liked his first novel The Martian. The second novel, Artemis, he tried and failed to write a believable female character. Still, on the strength of his first novel, I'm willing to give his #3 novel a try.
Was out and discovered a discount bookstore with new books and got three in a 4 for $20 deal (husband got the 4th) and then went to the used bookstore and got another couple. :) 2 of the 5 are even in cities :)The Fractalist: Memoir of a Scientific Maverick
All Those Vanished Engines
City of Lost Dreams (read the 1st a while back)
The Judas Strain
The Black Wolves of Boston
A local business has donated a storefront to Friends of the Library. They plan on opening on the first Saturday of each month, today being the first time. I vowed to limit my purchases to two only because 1) I already have enough books and am trying to pare my holdings; and 2) I will likely want to go every month. Both of these have been on my wish list for awhile.I Heard The Owl Call My Name
That Old Ace in the Hole

I Heard the Owl Call my Name could be quite interesting. I may have seen the movie when I was a kid.
