What are you all reading in this beautiful spring weather?

message 2: by Zena (new)

Zena (zenarae) I just started Klara and the Sun, Kazuo Ishiguro's new book. I loved Remains of the Day, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Sarah R. | 25 comments I've been hearing such good things about Klara and the Sun- hope you enjoy!

I just started reading Under a White Sky by Elizabeth Kolbert. I really liked The Sixth Extinction and so far am enjoying this one too. She does a great job of writing about complex science and engineering concepts in an understandable way, and provides a lot of food for thought about humanity's relationship to nature.

Pam Karnatz | 4 comments "Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk" by Kathleen Rooney:
Loved Lillian's wonderful attitude to carry on and meet life with determination and insight. She reminds me of my own Grammy who likewise talked to strangers, learning their secrets while sharing life's lessons. Finding out at the end that Lillian was a real poet and advertising star made this treasure of a book even better. Thanks to Kathleen Rooney for her tour of New York on New Year's Eve from the eyes of an old, but strong and courageous hero.

Jennifer | 15 comments I just started Apeirogon by Colum McCann. He wrote one my all-time favorite books, Let the Great World Spin, so I’m looking forward to reading this.

Next up will be Evicted by Matthew Desmond, which is the Library’s book discussion selection this month.

I had five(!) holds requests come in at once this weekend, so will have plenty to read in the coming weeks. Looking forward to it!

Gretchen (gretgretch) | 4 comments I loved McCann’s Apeirogon and enjoyed his TransAtlantic. Enjoy. I’m waiting for Patrick Radden Keefe’s newest “Empire of Pain.” He wrote “Say Nothing,” and managed to turn a nonfiction story into a compelling narrative. I still have to read Mantel’s The Mirror and the Light but other holds come in or I jump into something else. I’m also dragging it out since it’s the last of her series and it’s been really good. If anyone is looking for a good weekend read I like Lily King’s “Euphoria” and “Writers and Poets.”

Jennifer | 15 comments I want to read Empire of Pain, just as soon as I work through all this fiction in my TBR stack. 😁

Am I the only one who likes to alternate between fiction and nonfiction?

message 8: by Pam (new)

Pam Karnatz | 4 comments I agree to the alternation between fiction and nonfiction: this makes you appreciate each style and design.
