"The Ranch" – A Story of the Predictable but Completely Unexpected
The book layout is done for parallel reading, 100 pages, a perfect bound study guide written in Spanish and English. If you have ever lived in Mexico or want to, this is a great read. You will be transported back in time to 1974, to a ranch in the countryside where life was simple with no running water or electricity. You will laugh and delight at situations so surprising you will want more. The book is a memoir, chronicling the author's falling in love with a man who takes her to meet his parents. When none of them speak English and she speaks no Spanish their capacity to understand is challenged. The twelve stories describe one year and revolve around life, food, and getting to know a culture in a new way. Miller is a long-term Bilingual/Bicultural American resident of San Miguel Allende.
