This is the question I was waiting for. Hero is right to be concerned about the marriage. Although she didn't voice any accusations yet, deep down Hero suspects Victoria killed her mother. It is too convenient that Victoria comes on the scene, Hero's mom dies unexpectedly, then Victoria worms her way into Jarvis' personal and political life. Hero's thought that Victoria is a female Jarvis only worse, is spot on.
Also, Victoria hears the rumors around her that she was behind her last husband's death. As wicked as he is, Hero loves her father.
I am anxious to see how the story arc is going to play out. I do hope that Victoria pays. Will Victoria give Jarvis a male heir? Will she kill Jarvis? Will Jarvis kill her. These are all exciting possibilities.
This is the first time Hero has voiced any criticism of Victoria and, like you, I have hungered for her thoughts on the woman. It felt like she’s been trying not to go there but this marriage has forced her feelings to the surface. And, I think she has concern for Jarvis.
I love the way Harris is slowly building the suspense around this story arc. She’s taking her time and it’s brilliant.
I hadn’t thought about a male heir. That would be clever of Victoria. Hmmm....

This part of the storyline was delicious and much anticipated!! Oh, I like the thought of the heir! Perhaps why they married so quickly?? I thought it was interesting that Victoria mentioned about Kat touring in Paris, not just as a dig to Hero, but maybe because Victoria has connections to the French government? Could she be providing information from Jarvis to the French?
I just mentioned Kat in another thread. That would be really interesting if Victoria is connected to the French Revolutionaries.
Thought you all would enjoy this (wasn't sure where to post!):https://crimereads.com/how-do-you-kee...
Thank you for sharing that link, Jo Ann. That was a wonderful article and reinforces my trust in the author. It’s also clear that she’s still in love with the characters and has lots more to explore with them.
Thanks for sharing Jo Ann. It is wonderful to know that Harris still loves these characters and has more coming in the future. I'm so looking forward to the next book. I hope Sebastian gets some of the answers he needs. If I remember correctly, Robb has similar comments about Eve & Roarke when she was asked how she finds new ideas for the In Death series. The main characters need a lot of baggage that can be explored over many books.
I wish Harris could figure out how to get two books out every year.
