Is there a specific reason why lgbtq+ is associated with and uses rainbows?"

the history of this is actually pretty anticlimactic lol. gilbert baker, a gay man, made the original pride flag in 1978, which actually had eight stripes, the first being pink (which was later removed because pink became a symbol used by nazis to target gay men, thus why it was removed). it was inspired by judy garland’s song “over the rainbow” and her following death, which was only a few days before the stonewall riots. no huge reason, just a guy deciding that it was long overdue to have a symbol of pride and being inspired by one of the first western gay icons.

nowadays, people like it because it has a bunch of different colours and promotes inclusivity, but those are the origins as far as i know!

Darby I was wondering how other private, introverted activists get the courage to actually state their opinions, and stand up for them? Like, I am fine writing things and online stuff, but face-to-face I really fear conflict and tension and messing up friendships and making situations uncomfortable, which is bound to happen when talking about sensitive topics. If anyone has any tips for how I can do this, I would be so grateful.
