Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments welcome Team Team Angua von Uberwald to Tower TYeams 8

I am NIkk and I will be your captain this round, Apoorv and Annalisa will be your lovely co-captains so any one of us can help out if you have any questions. I think I have been playing since Tower Teams III or IV and its one of my favourite team challenges on goodreads.

I am live in Sydney Australia with my partner, 9 year old daughter, one dog and one cat and I mostly read paranormal romance, urban fantasy, but I also enjoy, high fantasy, YA Cozy and any kind of romance.

Let's start by introducing ourselves with our:
- name,
- location
- TT shelf
- genres we like to read plus
- the most recent movie we saw.

Right now I cannot remember the most recent movie I saw at the cinema but I do remember that I saw it with my daughter and we both enjoyed it LOL. The most recent movie I saw at home was Harry Potter and the half blood prince as my daughter and I are both massive Harry Potter fans and so we own all the movies and my daughter watches at least 1 every week depending on her mood LOL

I will populate the reserved messages above with all important information and have a tracking sheet available shortly. Ideally it would be nice if we could hear from you in the thread at least one a week to let us know what you are up to with your reading and you can post your book completions in either the thread or on the tracking spreadsheet. you may of course post more frequently as chatting is definitely a good thing also as this is supposed to be fun first and foremost.

Look out for my friend requests coming out shortly otherwise I won't bombard with any more info in this post .

I looking forward to getting to know all of you and to playing this round

Annalisa | 1574 comments Hi Team Angua von Uberwald!

I'm Annalisa and I'm one of your co-captains for TT. This will be my third TT. I'm currently a captain in UNO and don't have a co-captain, so I probably won't be very chatty here until UNO finishes.

I live in Asheville, North Carolina, US. I mostly read historical romance (this is probably because it is a de-stressor and they are fast reads for challenges), I also really like fantasy and science fiction. I will read pretty much any genre though if it is the right book. I don't remember the last movie I saw. I don't watch a lot of movies. It might have been Mulan (the new action version) or it might have been Wolf Walkers. Both were a bit disappointing.

Here is a link to my TT shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

I'm looking forward to playing this version of TT with everyone.

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 1274 comments Hey! Hey! Hey!
I'm Apoorv, (supposedly) your co-captain. :P
I have been playing Tower Teams for a wee bit now and clearly love this challenge. It also doesn't help that I am wildly addicted to GoodReads and am just here wandering through the groups in search of group challenges. LOL!

Just like Annalisa, I'm also captaining a group in UNO, so will be focused a bit there till it ends at the end of this month, but will totally be around here.

I live in Boston, Massachusetts, USA and read almost everything that I can get my hands on (except maybe religious fiction). And Tower Teams has historically definitely helped me venture more into a variety of genres and authors.

Tower Teams Shelf: Challenge-NBRC-TT8

Since it is the Awards season for the movies, I am thoroughly engrossed in watching all the nominated movies across the globe, so I am a happy camper these days. The last one I watched was Minari (Dir. Lee Isaac Chung) which is a beautiful story of a South Korean family trying to find their footing in America. Highly recommend it!

Cannot wait to get the ball rolling on this one. We have a fun challenge in front of us! :D

In the interim feel free to ask any questions you have. I promise I will answer all the easy ones and let Nikk and Annalisa tackle the not so easy ones! :P

BakaRena | 16 comments Hello team!

My name is Ekaterina (or Rena). I currently live in Shisui, Japan, but I was born and raised in Siberia and it's always snowing in my soul.

It is my first time doing this challenge and I'm looking forward to it!!
Here's a link to my folder: TT8 Challenge.
Do I understand it correctly that we are supposed to add books to it after we finish reading them?

I read gay romance for comfort but other than that I enjoy fantasy, science fiction and historical fiction/nonfiction. I'd also like to explore horror genre more. I would like to catch up on Discworld novels and I am currently reading Guards Guards. I suppose our lovely team namesake appears in next city watch novel and I was planning to start the challenge with it!

Last movies that I watched were Bram Stoker's Dracula and Dead Alive. Two best things to my mind that happened in 1992 along with my birthday. And it's one of the few times that I thought movie was better than the book. Not to say that book is always better, I just don't watch a lot of movies. It's harder to take them together with you unlike books.

Hope to read a lot of books together with you all!

message 21: by Lauri (new)

Lauri (otwlauri) | 1739 comments Aloha from Hawaii! I'm Lauri & I'm so excited to play! This will be my 4th TT (I think...) I'm also coming off of UNO, although I'm not a captain. I can't edit a spreadsheet to save my life! I will be asking for help entering my completed books. I read 100% paper & ink books which I borrow from the library. It makes life quite interesting. I will read just about anything, but historical fiction, chick lit, mysteries & paranormal are my favorites. I didn't really get into Discworld, but I will try again with our BOMs for May.

I can't really remember what movie I last saw in the theatre! It's been such a long time. The last movies I watched on TV were Karate Kid 1 - 3. Stop laughing! I watch a LOT of movies. And hey, it was a marathon. I was reliving my misspent youth. I speak fluent movie quote / song lyrics. It's both a gift and a curse.

I can't wait to start planning and reading with all of you!

Laila Jane (axlilxlala) | 1238 comments Hi everyone! I'm Laila and I am in the Chicago area. I've been playing Tower Teams on and off for the last few years, and based off my book shelves, this is my 3rd TT. Like most everyone, I'm doing Uno too. I really love group challenges!

My favorite genre is romance (any sub-genre), but I've found that I will read just about anything for a challenge. I've discovered some of the best books that way and it has really expanded my reading.

I haven't done too much movie watching in the last year. I tend to watch TV shows more than movies at home. The last movie I remember going to was for a kid's birthday party - Frozen 2. I'm taking a wild guess and saying my last home movie was Avengers: Endgame. I love Marvel superheroes and did a marathon with all the movies when they were all out.

My TT Shelf: towerteams8

Erin | 376 comments Hi guys! I'm Erin and I'm from Atlanta, GA. I *think* I played tower teams once many times ago? But I also might totally be misremembering haha.

My favorite genre is fantasy followed by romance. But I also will read historical, mystery, science fiction, and general fiction sprinkled in-between the fantasy or romance.

The last movie I saw in theater pre covid was the new Little Women movie which was really good! The most recent movie I've seen at home was The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society for like the sixth time

Diana Costa | 33 comments Hello everyone! I'm Diana, I'm from Portugal but currently live in London. This will be my first TT - a team member from UNO (the only challenge I know!) convinced me to join. I live a pretty busy and stressful life, and UNO helps me a lot with allocating more time to read, and that's my goal with TT too. :)

I don't think I have a specific genre; I don't usually read fantasy, that's a fact... But I read a long time ago the series from Die tote Stadt (I think it's pretty strange that no english version is available!) and loved it - I should revisit it!

I'm not much of a movie person and don't remember the last movie I saw... The pianist, maybe? It's one of my favourites, part of my top 3 together with One Day with Anne Hathaway which I looove and La vita è bella.

My TT shelf is here.

Looking forward to to playing with you all!

message 25: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 52 comments Hi! I'm Becky, and I live in Indianapolis. (That's in the Eastern time zone, although most people assume we're on Central. So that means I'm in the same time zone as Annalisa in Boston, not Laila in Chicago.) This is my first Tower Teams. First challenge in this group at all. I joined because some of my teammates in Turf Wars were talking about how much fun it is, and Turf Wars wraps up early next week, so the timing was perfect to start a new team challenge! Here's my TT shelf. I have absolutely no idea what we're supposed to be doing, but I figure someone will tell me when it's time to start reading. :P

I read mostly romance, about 60/40 m/m to m/f, with the occasional f/f thrown in. I also read a bit of sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery. I'm not a big nonfiction reader, although I will read them for challenges, and mostly enjoy them when I do. I have a big folder of nonfiction titles in my Kindle that I picked up because they sounded interesting... I just never seem to get around to reading them without the nudge of a challenge.

As for movies, the most recent movie I've seen in a theater was Crazy Rich Asians, I think? It's been a while. The most recent new movie was Wonder Woman 1984. And the most recent movie I've seen overall was The Goonies. (So much more screaming than I remembered.)

Jade aka MrsTosh (mrstosh) | 795 comments Hey everyone :)

Thank you @Apoorv for sending me the team link, my notifications are hit and miss lately didn't know they have been published.

So as you will know from the team list my name is Jade. I am based in the UK and live a happy life with my Husband and our cat Pablo.

Link to my shelf is: J Shelf

For as long as I, and my poor Mother can remember I have been a bookworm, even at 3 years old when she used to drag me kicking and screaming out of the library. To be honest I will read almost anything but my favourite genres would be Historical Fiction and Romance. I am currently working my way through my Netgalley shelf trying to tick them all off :)

As for movies to be honest the only time I watch them is at the weekend, during the week my better half will be watching the tv whilst I am reading my kindle. The last film I watched was actually my favourite last night which is Roadhouse total 80's classic and I love it and Patrick Swayze.

I have done a few rounds of Towers now whilst I've been a member of the group and look forwards to chatting to you all and sharing recommendations.
