♔ |Rules
▪ The contestant cannot leave the palace on her own accord. She can only be dismissed by the prince himself.
▪ There is no timeline for the Selection — it can last from days to years.
▪ The contestant cannot arrange her times with the prince. If in a large social setting, this rule does not apply.
▪ The contestant cannot fight or sabotage other participants. If the contestant is found laying her hands on another contestant, causing her stress, stealing from her, or doing anything that might diminish her personal relationship with the prince, the prince will decide whether to dismiss her or not.
▪ The contestant can only have a romantic relationship with the prince. If the contestant is caught in a relationship with someone else, it is considered treason and punishable by death.
▪ If the contestant is found breaking any of Illéa's written laws, her punishment will be tied to that offense.
▪ For security reasons, the contestant cannot eat any food or wear any clothes that are not provided to her by the palace.
▪ The contestant must be courteous to photographers, and allow them to see her lifestyle with the prince.
▪ For each week the contestant stays at the palace, her family will be compensated.
▪ If the contestant is no longer in the Selection, and was not a former Two or Three, she will have an aide to help her adjust to her new life after the Selection. Her aide will help the contestant find new housing and employment.
▪ If the contestant makes it to the top ten, she is considered as an Elite, and will be required to learn about particular inner workings of the life and obligations she would have as a princess. Until then, the contestant is not permitted to seek out such information.
▪ The contestant's caste number is automatically raised to a Three, unless she was already a Three or a Two prior to being Selected. Her family's caste remains the same.
▪ The contestant must be a virgin.
▪ If the prince/princess invites the contestant to do something with him, it is advised she shouldn't refuse — regardless if it's dinner, outings, kissing, and even more than kissing.
♔ | Caste System
ONES are royalty and religious figures. They hold a position of power and respect from being at the top of the caste system.
TWOS are celebrities; including athletes, singers, actors/actresses, models, politicians, police officers, firefighters, guards, and military members. Some Twos are known to be snobs.
THREES are businessmen; including inventors, teachers, philosophers, scientists, doctors, veterinarians, nurses, dentists, architects, librarians, engineers, therapists/psychologists, film directors, music producers, lawyers, and writers.
FOURS are jewelers, real estate agents, insurance brokers, head chefs, construction managers, property/business owners, and farmers.
FIVES are artists and performers; including stage actors, classical musicians, singers, dancers, photographers, sculptures, and circus performers.
SIXES are workers; including secretaries, waiters/waitresses, housekeepers, seamstresses, store clerks, cooks, and drivers. The servants at the palace are Sixes.
SEVENS are manual laborers; including gardeners, construction workers, farmhands, gutter/pool cleaners, and trash collectors, ditch diggers, movers. Sevens are very similar to Sixes, but they have outdoor jobs instead.
EIGHTS are "untouchables"; including mentally/physically unwell people, addicts, runaways, illegitimate, and the homeless. Usually, when wealthy people become eights, they are killed and left in the streets. The Eights are the lowest of the lows, and people were punished by being made an Eight.
NO CASTES are the Northern and Southern rebels, but they would most likely be considered Eights as they might be considered "runaways."
♔ | Other Countries
FRANCE is an ally of Illéa, but not much else is known about the country, except that Prince Maxon was childhood friends with Princess Daphne who said that she loved him and she offered to give up her throne for him, but Maxon did not love her back. Between Illéa and France exist a trade agreement that will eventually cause problems.
THE GERMAN FEDERATION is described as having rough English and more stern personalities despite being very sweet as well. Celeste, Elise and Natalie hosted members of the German Federation for their project in The Elite.
ITALY’s citizens are described as carefree and kind, as well as fun. Their English is extremely good despite her thoughts of their maternal language being beautiful already. America and Kriss hosted members of the Italian government for their project in The Elite. Italy has refrained from being allies with Illéa because of the strict Caste System, opposed to their more free government in Italy.
NEW ASIA is a country that was at war with Illéa. The cause of this war is unknown, but it is known that during the Fourth World War, New Asia invaded Illéa only to have conflict over boundaries in Asia with Russia. Because of Russia distracting them, they allowed Gregory Illéa to rise up and liberate the country from New Asian rule.
RUSSIA was involved with World War Three, which Illéa came out of when New Asia was distracted from ruling Illéa, because they fought over boundaries with Russia. If not for the conflict with Russia, Illéa and its monarchy might still be under the rule of New Asia, and would still be called the United States of America.
SWENDWAY could be the countries Sweden, Norway, and Finland of Northern Europe, due to their name and Monarchy and their official language which is Finnish. Gregory Illéa had his daughter Katherine marry the crown Prince of Swendway in order for himself to receive Royal ties. His daughter did not want to marry the Prince, as he was a stranger and much older than her. Katherine, however, was forced to marry him and they eventually had a daughter, Antonella de Illéa de Monpezat. Many Swendish communities exist in Illéa because of their good relationship for a long time.

♔ | The Selection is a competition between thirty-five girls called the Selected who compete to marry the prince and become the Princess of Illéa. All females that are single and ages 19-23 are sent an application to fill out and return to the State Providence Offices along with a photo of herself. Participation isn't mandatory, so the girl does not have to fill it out if she so chooses not to. The government says that the girls are picked randomly, but to ensure that an unattractive suitor isn't picked, they get their picture taken to find the best looking ones to compete. The King also has a say on who is picked to be in the Selection. The Selected also get a mandatory styling before the Selection.
