I really enjoyed the audiobook, the narrator did a great job with all the children’s voices - especially Lucifer, who was hilarious.
I didn’t really like the narration when I listened to the sample, but I had one credit I planned on using up on whichever won the vote (my bid was for the other one - but though I haven’t read that yet, I’m now delighted it didn’t win) before cancelling my subscription for a bit.So I bought it. At first, I didn’t think it was great, but okay. There wasn’t anything wrong with it. I just didn’t really care for it or the book. And then, somewhere along the way, I did care, and I cared a great deal. The narration really brought those characters to life in the best way.
When I first heard the Chauncey voice, I thought it was a little over the top, but I soon changed my mind. I couldn’t help but smile fondly whenever he spoke. The voices were all great and unique and lovely, and gave me such a picture of the people speaking.
I’m listening to the book again, with my mum this time, because good things should be shared and I was missing those kids. And Arthur - Arthur was also wonderful.
I really loved the audiobook. I would start listening during workouts and just would keep listening as I went about my post-workout routine.I thought of similar things with Lucy to that meme but also black cats.
And I totally envisioned Chauncey in my head, maybe like a green slimy version of one of the characters from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

1. Chauncey's voice is just enough over the top, can totally picture him every single time.
2. It makes the bits with Lucy more funny, because he does 6-year-old voice, which manages to contextualize the ridiculousness.
For some reason it makes me think of this tiny bat meme:
