Emily | 21 comments I thought the John Lewis graphic novel March trilogy was a fantastic way to get a first-hand account of the civil rights movement. I learn a lot from essay collections, biographies, and memoirs too. Ta-Nahesi Coates’s Between the World and Me was a good one, and I thought The New Jim Crow, Just Mercy, and Minor Feelings were all really eye-opening reads as well.

Emily | 21 comments Whoops, misspelled Ta-Nehisi Coates—shouldn’t have relied on my memory!
