Hi Sandi...great month, great books. Thanks for your comments on the books...I love serial killers and had never read the Billingham series. I haven't read the Nero Wolfe yet...Keep picking it up but I just don't want to read anything except Kindle books. I'm getting very excited about Bouchercon.
Sandi:Good month for you, thanks for sharing your thoughts, and thanks for the reminder -- I want to get back to the Spellman's too! I really enjoyed Lisa Lutz's The Spellman Files.

You were prolific in your reading this month, Sandi. I've never read Billingham either, but don't tell him. I'll get to Sleepyhead one of these days. He is a top notch panelist and moderator, I will miss seeing his antics at B-con and the other unusual suspects (Laura Lippman, John Connolly, Karin Slaughter, to name a few).

I haven't checked in a couple of weeks tho. I sure hope I'm wrong. Carol, I wish you were coming to Indy. I'll sure miss seeing you...

I'm going to miss seeing you and the rest of the gang, and getting to meet our newbie. Be sure to give her a good ole M/T welcome. And I was sure I was going to bump into Peyton Manning on the streets of Indy. Oh well, I'll let you guys report on all the fun and hopefully catch up with you next year. I'm sure I'll get big bonus points for going to my company's Board meeting (yeah, right),
Carol:It is a shame you couldn't do both events and meet Peyton too! I'll see him on the field Sunday night, but will be several feet up. I am hoping he has an off night

Top Reads
Even though these books never have much of a plot I enjoy finding out what the family is up to. Decided to try on audio and the narration by Christina Moore was top notch.
Am a big Russo fan and enjoyed this shorter and lighter work.
Good Reads
Set in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs and featuring a former female cop turned PI. Lots of plot (the ripped from the headlines type) but perhaps just a bit too long.
A serial killer is on the loose in Mongolia. Interesting setting and characters but very slowly paced.
Fun series set in Scotland that I particular like in audio because of Davina Porter's narration.
Sweeping historical set in 19th century Africa. Lots of action and adventure. A real old time page turner.
Not my favorite installment of the long running fantasy series, but Gaspode the Wonder Dog and the trollish love story were worth a few chuckles. Audio read by Nigel Planer
Debut legal thriller penned by a TV writer/producer. Very slick in both the best and worst senses.
A body is found in a canal in Venice and Guido Brunetti tries to find out what really happened even though his superior officers seem to want everything glossed over.
Read for the Bouchercon and am pretty sure it will be the One Book One City selection for Indianapolis. Nero and Archie travel to upstate New York and get involved in a real bullish situation. Audio read by Michael Prichard
Extremely weird look at modern Japan. A college student must find his sister who has become embroiled with the Yakuza.
Billingham is one of the best panelist I have seen at various Bouchercons but I had always put off reading his book because of the serial killer type plots. This was different enough though to make it interesting though and I did enjoy the characters.
Fun thriller featuring a fixer for the speaker of the house. The main character understands his limits and while he gets the job done he never seems like a superman. Audio read by Scott Brick
Ok Read
Saw the author at Bouchercon last year. This was decent enough but neither the plot nor the characters were all that compelling and I doubt that I read further in the series.
