Irene | 4639 comments I am wondering if there is anyone who is still interested in continuing the group reads. We have a few new members. This could be a buddy read with two or three members or a group read with a greater number of participants.
So, would you like to read and discuss a book together in this group?
If yes, please nominate a book that you would like to read.

Irene | 4639 comments I will nominate two classics that I have been wanting to read.
Great Expectations
Great Expectations

The Cantabury Tales
The Cantebury Tales: An Illustrated Edition

Renee (elenarenee) | 275 comments Oh my, you are making this hard. I want to read both. I am leaning towards The Cantebury Tales: An Illustrated Edition. I will be happy whichever wins.

message 4: by Melody (new)

Melody Bush (mab4ksu) Either is fine with me too. I have only read Oliver Twist and David Copperfield so would enjoy Great Expectations. The vignettes in Canterbury Tales would be fun too.

message 5: by Irene (new)

Irene | 4639 comments Since both were my nominations, I am open to either. Do the two of you want to decide which you want to read? Are there others that would like to weigh in? Should we read both, one after the other?

message 6: by Renee (new)

Renee (elenarenee) | 275 comments LOL. I would like them both. I guess I am not much help. I own a copy of great expectations. But the library has a copy of Canterbury tales on the shelf. I would be able to start Great Expectations sooner' but it would be easy to get great expectations.

Irene | 4639 comments Well, since Renee has GE and Melody said that she would like to read it, should we just make it our next book? Would we be able to read it in June? We can decide if we want to do CT after we finish GE. We may be sick of classics after that long book.

Vivienne Seatter | 76 comments Hey guys, sorry I’ve not been commenting much, it’s been a bit busy! I’d love to read Great Expectations along with you.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) CT is actually more daunting.

message 10: by Irene (new)

Irene | 4639 comments Vivienne, that is great.
So, is everyone good starting GE next week? Do you want a later start date?
Jayme, Is CT more daunting because of the language or for another reason? When I finally read it, I will be using a translation into modern English. I have no desire to teach myself Old English to read CT or for any other reason.

Vivienne Seatter | 76 comments Next week is good for me!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) It was daunting in either language I had to use cliff's notes and read the book.

message 13: by Irene (new)

Irene | 4639 comments O No, Now I am intimidated, Jayme. I am not that ambitious to read cliff notes alongside a book.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I had them as a reference

message 15: by Melody (new)

Melody Bush (mab4ksu) I’m ready and willing to start GE next week with you guys.
