Yes, this is a writing group, but writing and reading go together. I always like to see what people are reading!

What does everyone like to read? What are you reading now?

kelsie (taylor's version) I'm reading Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen! I'm 149 pages in and I'm starting to see the wit I was promised! lol

What about you?

Floating Lemon Bars (floatinglemonbars) | 67 comments I was reading Keep This to Yourself by Tom Ryan but I've finished it. Now I'm reading Six of Crows. It's supposed to be good so I'm excited.

Pride and Prejudice sounds like a good book, I might read it sometime. I have Six of Crows on my want-to-read shelf, but I'm not sure if it's decent or not. Tell me what you think, because even though some books are bestsellers that doesn't mean they are good lol :)

message 6: by Kai (new)

Kai I like to read fantasies and I am currently reading multiple books including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for the second time, Mananaland, and Insidious.

kelsie (taylor's version) you know what, I'm not sure if I've ever fully finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?????

who am I honestly

Moon (lane_leigh) | 395 comments I am a sucker for dark retellings, enemies to lovers, and a good murder or ten. That is why, I am more often reading These Violet Delights By Chloe Gong & Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson! Because who else doesn't love murder and two people who absolutely hate each other to the point they may kill one another............ cuz I do!

message 9: by Rainbow Beans (new)

Rainbow Beans (rainbowbeans) | 113 comments Oh I want to read Good Girl, Bad Blood. I like reading murder mysteries, love story's, LGBTQ+ books, dystopian books, and mostly just all ya books. I'm currently reading The Cheerleaders, What if its Us, and Girl Made of Stars.

Floating Lemon Bars (floatinglemonbars) | 67 comments I love GGBB and a AGGGTM. I'm fine with any books as long as they're good, the genres don't rly matter. I'm currently You Know Me Well.

I literally enjoy every single genre you just said. Also, could you let me know if Girl Made of Stars is good? The cover is 😘 but I have to be reasonable with my bank account.

It's my fault though, whenever I check a book out from the library I want to go to the bookstore and buy the book just so I can have it on my shelf.

message 13: by Rainbow Beans (new)

Rainbow Beans (rainbowbeans) | 113 comments I haven't read much of Girl Made of Stars but I like it so far and I like most of Ashley Herring Blake's books so I think it's a good book.

Floating Lemon Bars (floatinglemonbars) | 67 comments Ya'll should read These Witches Don't Burn.

Thank you for the recommendation. I've heard of it but never got around to checking it out. Now, time to go to the bookstore I wonder why people keep trying to lecture me about being responsible with my money!!! YAYY!

R wrote: "Anyone read or reading the Scythe series?? I have read both the first and second :D"

I have the first book and I read it a few months ago. I wrote a review about it. I'm not sure if I'll buy the rest of the series or not. It's just... idk. Read my review lol

message 28: by Moon (new)

Moon (lane_leigh) | 395 comments I am currently half kinda-not-kinda-is reading the first Scythe book... I have one opinion although I haven't gotten very far: Scythes are [REDACTED]. They're just jerks, dude.

Lmao ok. I feel ya.

message 30: by Moon (new)

message 31: by Olivia, Mod/author/human/she/her (new)

Olivia (-olivia-) | 353 comments Mod
I know. Its strange.

message 32: by Moon (new)

Moon (lane_leigh) | 395 comments That's an understatement.

message 33: by R (new)

R (sociallyawkwardbean) | 15 comments I agree, though not all scythes are jerks. Later in the book, youll see that some are honorable in their line of work, and some are not. It's just the way society is for them, and the honorable ones try their best to kill kindly. In a way, they are doing a service for society, since there isnt many ways for ppl to die, they are helping to control the population. But it is messed up

message 34: by Moon (new)

Moon (lane_leigh) | 395 comments That is a nice way to think about it, R. I applaud you for that. However, my small-minded brain will still consider them jerks for the time being.

message 35: by R (new)

R (sociallyawkwardbean) | 15 comments Thank you, and also that's valid

message 36: by Moon (new)

Moon (lane_leigh) | 395 comments No, thank you for understanding my stubbornness.

message 37: by Leah (new)

Leah Hester | 48 comments Am currently reading A Natural History of Dragons which was gifted to me by a friend and LOVE it. Basically victorian woman becomes a dragon scientist and its great.

I read a lot of variety, but primarily tend to come back to fantasy, scifi, and adult romance. I'm hoping to get back into reading more regularly- sometimes life just gets so heavy, yknow? Yall reading any fun summer sun books?

I'm thinking about re-reading the percy jackson series because I LOVED it in 4th to 5th grade. So that should be fun over the summer. I have nothing better to do lol

I would love to re-read PJO this summer, but math and SAT studying, so I can't do that.

message 40: by Leah (new)

Leah Hester | 48 comments I've never gotten to read the Percy Jackson series. My husband owns and loves them, I've been meaning to borrow them.

Yeah, they are good, even for a kids book.

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 515 comments Leah wrote: "Planning on it- I was late to the HP party too lol I'm sure I'll enjoy them."

If you do enjoy them, I'd totally recommend continuing by reading the spinoffs (the order of the "Camp Half-Blood Chronicles" is Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, and finally Trials of Apollo). It took e a few years to read all of these series, so there's definitely no need to rush through them.

message 45: by Moon (new)

Moon (lane_leigh) | 395 comments I'm like halfway through GGBB (good girl, bad blood) book two in the AGGGTM series. Now, I know a few of you have read it and I am ABSOLUTELY adoring it!!! (probably because of Ravi tbh)
